The Westbury

As mentioned in a previous post, I really wanted to dedicate a post purely to ‘The Westbury’ hotel in Dublin. I have stayed at this hotel a few times a year for the past 4 years, and my family have been staying there for many years now.

Balfes Bar

The Westbury is a beautiful hotel just off Grafton Street, which means the location couldn’t be more central. You are within walking distance of all of the main attractions of the city which is amazing, I didn’t use any form of transport apart from to get to and from the airport (around 40 minutes away in a taxi). However despite the hotel being in a very central location, it is still reasonably quiet and on an evening you very rarely hear noise from outside (bars and restaurants etc).

The reception area and bar/restaurant are very tastefully decorated and everything always looks very stylish and well thought out. I particularly love the chandeliers and the staircase in the main entrance, it is so beautiful! Last time we visited, the breakfast room was being redecorated, so this year it was nice to see the new décor. It seemed to have a French garden vibe, which was relaxing and I thought fitted in well with the rest of the hotel, I defiantly preferred the new decorations to the previous one. I also loved that you were given blankets on the back of each chair, such a nice touch.

Breakfast

As always, the room was stunning and I have absolutely no complaints. We were on the sixth floor therefore had a good view looking over Grafton Street, which was very nice. My favourite thing about the whole hotel has to be the service though, for example when we arrived chocolates, champagne and flowers were left in our room and every evening we were luckily given more chocolates by the housekeepers. In my opinion the smallest touches make the biggest differences.

Flowers, champagne and chocolates

Overall I would certainly recommend The Westbury to anyone visiting Dublin. It is more on the pricey side, but the quality, staff and location is completely 5 star and I wouldn’t have changed my experience for the world. I will be definitely staying at the hotel when I next visit, alongside the London branch (the Marleybone) which I also visit on a regular basis.
