My birthday makeup

My birthday is a week today and this week (and this post) marks the start of my birthday celebrations… I couldn’t be more excited! For the next couple of weeks, the majority of my content will be surrounded around my birthday and my party. I’m looking forward to having a bit of a theme to my posts for a few weeks, and I hope my celebrations (and photos!) are going to be as perfect as planned in my mind.

My birthday party is a few days before my birthday (my birthday is a Monday so I figured a weekend party is better), and although it’s going to be quite relaxed I want my makeup to look nice. After all, makeup is my hobby and my passion and you want to feel as good as you can on your birthday! A few days ago I decided to have a practise of what I want my makeup to look like, so I don’t have to really think about it on the day when I have other preparations to do. I thought that this was a good time to film it for my blog, because like I said on the actual day I will have a lot of other things to do and filming won’t be my priority (it’s very time consuming and I am filming something else exciting on the day as well).

I wanted something very similar to my classic ‘nighttime’ makeup, however I wanted to go more matte on the eyes than what I usually do. Usually I press a shimmery shade all over my lid but this time I exchanged that step for a deep red shade, and I adore the outcome. It’s more smokey than what I usually do, and I think that’s perfect for a party when paired with my favourite lashes at the moment. Overall I adore this look and I think I will be using it regularly for other parties and evening events. It’s very timeless and classic, but the red tones gives it a twist from the traditional grey toned smokey eye. If you read my blog a lot, you will know that I don’t venture away from a nude lip and this hasn’t changed for this look. I want something I don’t have to think about whilst eating and drinking, and a nude liquid lip is perfect for that.
