Let’s have a chat…

I feel like I need to have a chat. Im always uploading blog posts but I have never actually just sat and written about how I’m feeling about my blog and the direction that it is going in. Whenever there has been changes before I have just kind of subtly introduced them and that was that, but recently I’m feeling a bit of a shake up (probably because we are starting a new academic year… change is in the air). Ive had this blog for nearly a year now and it is definitely time for a few tweaks here and there. I don’t like change but recently I have been craving more depth on this platform, I have people who regularly read and I want to be able to connect with them more, and bring more ‘me’ onto my blog. By that I don’t mean more of my face putting on makeup (ill get onto that later) but more of my opinions, my views, my advice and more ways of actually influencing people through this incredible space that I have. I have been thinking for a long time as to how I could add features on my blog in order to achieve what I truly want from it, and I have a few ideas about what is going to start changing. So I thought to share them today in order to get everyone on the same page and set the scene as to what is to come (and why!). So practically a post of me explaining myself!

I’m sorry in advance for the lack of photos in this post, instead it’s just more of a ramble… more photo heavy posts will come soon if that’s what you are interested in! The photos featured in this post were taken a few months ago when I went to Edinburgh, I love them and hadn’t shared them all so I thought this was a nice time… they are actually some of my favourite photos I have ever taken!

Anyway…

Youtube. One short but scary word that keeps appearing. I really want to do it and I know it is the natural progression for my blog, as I already post video content as part of my posts already. However I’m just too scared. If I do create an account I do not want it to just be my makeup (as my blog is equally lifestyle as it is makeup) but I cannot find a way where I can upload lifestyle content on youtube without it making me feel uncomfortable (oh how I wish I liked how my voice sounded on video!). I do think I will find it soon and when I do I will probably start uploading videos, but my confidence just isn’t there at the moment. There is just something scary about the thought of posting to YouTube, there are more eyes to see you and I think its predominantly the fear of being judged. Until I do jump to creating them, you will probably be seeing more and more video content on my blog (probably some travel videos too) and eventually on a youtube channel. It was on my list of things I want to achieve by the time I am 18 so ya know, it needs to happen relatively soon 😂

Another progression I want to make on my blog is uploading more study and college related content. I don’t really show this on my blog but I do see myself as an academic person, and I feel like I could share a lot of my experience with sixth form, as I am going into year 13. I have been inspired by people who have dedicated revision social media online, as they have really motivated me and also pass on lots of tips and tricks that I use often in my own studying. I always put off doing study content on my blog as I don’t want to come across in the wrong way, but I am very happy with the grades I achieved from my first year at sixth form (4A’s) so I feel slightly more content and ‘qualified’ now to share how I revise and survive college. Although my blog is not turning into a revision blog (I need an escape with beauty!), I would like to discuss academia more and hopefully help some people who are reading. My analytics tell me that a lot of people reading this are of school/college age, so I would like to hope my advice will make an impact. Even if I just motivate one person next year I would see that as a worthwhile feature on my blog.

Maybe the most exciting change that is happening on my blog is a new series. I really enjoy doing series of posts on my blog (such as brand insight and ‘hello’) and from next month I am going to be adding another one to the list. “A chat with…” (is the title of this blog post making sense now?) is a series where I will be interviewing people on my blog who I find inspiring in some way. Like I said before, I wanted to add a more community feel to my blog and also add depth, I think this solves both of them worries perfectly. I can’t wait to share with you some of my favourite people, and it will also mean that likeminded people can go and check out their social medias. I have a few people lined up for the future months, but if you have anyone that you really want to be featured please let me know!

So quite a lot changing and happening, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the new things take me in the next year. It will be nice to evolve and expand my blog more, and create more of a community with my posts. Study content is something I have wanted to do for a long time but doubted myself on, so I hope that it all works out and people respond well to that style of post. I thought this was a good and natural time to introduce these changes and write them down, to kind of mark a point and a new chapter on my blog. Exciting times!
As always thank you so much for reading this, even if it is the first time you have read one of my posts I really appreciate it ❤
