Exactly this time last year I was in my back garden having a party to celebrate my GCSE results. Fast track a year and my life feels so different but so much better, and I can’t believe how fast it has flown. It doesn’t feel like 5 minutes ago since I opened my GCSE envelope and to think that it’s the same amount of time before I open my A level envelope is just scary.
August has been a pretty chilled out month, I have mainly been spending time with friends and I have also been away a few times as well which is always lovely. It’s so nice to be off college and be able to do whatever with my time, without the usual commitments. Everyone is so much more relaxed in the summer and it means we can do so much more, which I love.
We started the month off by going to Dublin for a few days, which I adored as it is my favourite place that I have ever been to. I much prefer a couple of days away on a city break as opposed to a week long beach holiday, and Dublin is just the perfect location. We were a bit more touristy this time and ticked a few things off the attractions list, and it was such a nice few days. I won’t ramble on too much about it because I made a whole series of blog posts about the trip, so if you want to see more photos and a diary style series click below:
Almost as soon after I landed back from Dublin, I was on my way to a party with some of my friends. I love having all of my friends together for parties and this one was no different. My friend Charlie has just built a summer house so we has a garden party as there is plenty of space. It was so nice seeing everyone and having a good time, I laughed so much and it was overall such a good evening. I also got plenty of photos with my friends which I love looking back on!
Talking of friends, it has been so nice to see them a lot throughout the last month. Like I said earlier, it is so much easier to organise time with friends as everyone doesn’t have as many commitments in the holidays. It’s worth fitting in as much as possible throughout summer as when everyone goes back to sixth form time just escapes us, and although we all see each other everyday it isn’t quality time. We have just been doing little things, such as going into town and out for meals, but it has been so lovely to just relax and have fun.
This month my room got redecorated and I am so in love with how it turned out. Nothing major happened (we changed the colours and added a few new pieces of furniture) but it looks so different and so much better. I went with a pretty neutral colour scheme because I find it really calming, and I couldn’t be happier with how it looks now. If you want me to do an updated room tour (I last did one last November I think) please let me know!
The 17th of this month was results day, which is always a nerve wracking time no matter what type of results you are opening. I am in year 12 (going into year 13 in September) so I was opening my first year/AS results. Success is relative, and I was so nervous because I didn’t feel too confident in my business exam, due to the long essay questions being quite confusing to answer. However I came out of my first year with 4 A’s and I couldn’t be happier. To come out of my first year with the highest grades I could get gives me the push I need to keep working hard next year and achieve the highest that I can.
On top of my results, which I was so happy about, the 17th was one of my favourite days of the year. If you read my blog a lot you will now that I love little things and this day was full of so many things that made me happy… so much so I’m just going to bullet point some of them
- Opening my results and achieving my goal
- Having a full English breakfast treat with my grandparents to celebrate my results
- The sun shining all day
- Seeing my friends succeeding and being happy with their results
- Sitting in the sun, drinking an ice cold slush with my friends
- Going on a spontaneous boat ride with my boyfriend and meeting some of his friends for the first time
- Having a pizza night in, curled up on the sofa watching old reality TV
- Finally changing my blog layout
Honestly I cant express to you how perfect and simple this day was, Im so lucky to have so many amazing people around me and even thinking back to this day makes me smile.
It was my best friend Emilys birthday on the 22nd so we had a few days to celebrate. She hosted a beach party, and it is always nice to get a large group of friends together despite the storm that was happening that day! Emily has been my rock for the past few years so it was lovely to treat her and watch her celebrate. We didn’t take many photos that night which is a shame, I think its because everyone was talking and there was very little phone service (usually most of the photos come from snapchat stories!).
The original plan for the last weekend in August was to go to Leeds fest with one of my closest friends Isy, but that ended up not happening through one reason and another… hopefully next year I will book tickets and go! Instead we had a little trip to York for two nights, to escape and get out in the bank holiday sunshine. York isn’t too far from where we live but it was nice to just get away and spend a few days there, we ended up looking at places that we don’t go to when we go on day trips! I love York, it is such a beautiful city and I wish I could go to university there (unfortunately my course is not offered there in the way I want it). Next week I am uploading some posts from the trip, I’m currently putting them together now and I’m so happy with how they have turned out.
Overall August has been a lovely month filled to the brim with love, friends, travel and just having an overall good time. As much as I wish I could stay off college forever, part of me is excited to go back and start a new year… I am someone who likes routine and I am looking forward to getting back into the structure of college and actually being productive. This month has been fun but very very unproductive! Next month I am also looking at universities more and putting in my application for my dream university, so scary times are ahead but I can’t wait for a challenge. Next year I have put a lot on my plate but I am so excited to push myself and hopefully I manage to do everything that I want to do!
