Hotel Indigo- York

If you saw my last post you will know that a couple of weeks ago I visited York for a couple of days, and if you haven’t seen that click here and read it before you check this one out. I have never stayed overnight in York before, and I can’t take credit for the hotel choice because my grandparents booked it however as soon as I walked into the hotel lobby I knew that I needed to create a blog post.

We stayed at the ‘hotel indigo’, which is a chain of hotels around the country. It was a pretty great coincidence that the name is indigo and my blog also features the name indigo, and I do kinda love that the names were the same. Its very rare that the name indigo comes up! Hotel indigo is a boutique hotel in York, which is quite central but not too in the action that is nice. If you know York well, it is about a 5 minute walk from Topshop and Primark.

The room was gorgeous and had a very homely feel to it. There was a plenty of space, I even had my own little room with the sofa bed in which was nice to spread out more. I loved the little touches throughout the room, for example the galaxy hot chocolate that you can make whilst in your room. They also have little notes around the products, an example of this being the coffee capsules having little notes about what type of coffee they are.

Something that I found was that the sample toiletries are from Harrogate, which is pretty local to York. I really like this because they are supporting local and independent businesses, and I would like to hope that all the indigo branches are like that. If ever I go to another indigo hotel, it will be nice to see products from that location and to discover more local businesses.

The lobby and restaurant/bar are lovely and I really liked going in there. Although I didn’t eat in the restaurant, I was told that all the ingredients were sourced from Yorkshire and, like the toiletries, I really liked that touch. Instead we had a few drinks in the bar on an evening (which I loved… especially the large range of cocktails), and we had breakfast in the restaurant. If you know me you know that I love a full English breakfast, so I appreciated the large portions and plenty of good food!

On one of the afternoons I decided to go to the lobby in order to take some photos (I always find that hotel ‘common’ areas are the quietest in the afternoon) and whilst I was snapping away a lovely employee of the hotel noticed me. We got talking about being a blogger and she is actually deals with all of the social media at the hotel, so it was nice to speak to her about common interests! She actually has a youtube channel that promotes positivity, she vlogs frequently so if you are wanting someone new to check out click here!

This seems like a very short (and photo heavy post) but I hope it has given you a little insight into the indigo hotel chain. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I would certainly spend the weekend there again. I would also like to try another branch as there are actually lots of different ‘Indigo’ hotels up and down the country.
