I wasn’t going to create this post but when I went into the shop, I knew almost instantly that I needed to write about it. The Yorkshire soap company is a stunning bath and body product company, that is based in North Yorkshire. I have been to the shop before, but I have never had my camera with me however I did when I went to York a few weeks ago I was snapping away the entire time. I love how the photos turned out and I also love supporting independent local businesses, so thats how this post came to be.
The interior is incredible and it overall has a really cool vibe. There is a great mixture of old and new furniture/fittings, which creates a really stylish atmosphere. From the grey walls to the large tables stacked with products, everything is so photogenic and amazing to look at. The style of the shop is gorgeous and very my aesthetic, I could imagine living with the colour scheme and style… I particularly love the moose on the wall! The actual building where the shop is located is also amazing, with beautiful architecture and even two levels to the shop. A lovely experience and really nice to walk around, I feel like people will spend a lot longer browsing than planned.
The employees were completely fine with me taking photos, so if you are an Instagram addict like me I would definitely recommend taking a few snaps whilst browsing. I loved how friendly all of the employees that I spoke to were, as it really makes the shopping experience nicer if the staff are smiley and friendly. You could have asked them about the products and they would happily chat and explain them to you in more depth. In fact my grandparents were purchasing some candles and a member of staff talked them through the scents, so they are certainly happy to help.
From looking around the store, I have found that their products are very innovative and like nothing I have seen before from a bath store. They even have soap that looks like a fish in bag (the old style that you get at a funfair) with a plastic fish set in the soap… it was so cute! My nan actually picked these up for some family friends as a joke present.
I think that the most standout product in the store are the cake soaps, as they are displayed so nicely and almost like they are in a cafe or cake shop. They look so real! Whilst I was there I actually wondered how many people would pick them up thinking that they are real cakes and are surprised when they touch them! Something that I loved about the shopping experience is that you put all the products that you want to purchase on a silver tray as opposed to a basket. I found this touch so cool and it added to the whole ‘cake shopping’ experience as all of the soaps look almost edible.
I also found that you can order bespoke soap wedding cakes for your big day, how cool is that?! As someone who is a complete beauty addict, I think that would be so cool to give to guests as a thank you gift, and it certainly is a talking point.
One of my favourite products from the shop are the bath truffles, and I have been buying them for a few years now. They are little cake like bath bombs, but when you pop them in your bath they do not fizz and instead just melt into an oil. They make your skin so soft and smell incredible too, I would certainly recommend them to try (particularly if you have dry skin). Due to them being quite cheap too, they are perfect for gifts… plus you can purchase them in packs of 4 or 6 as a gift box.
We bought a few products and then walked next door, to the sister shop of the brand. Next door was opened after the original shop, and they are actually completely different but owned by the same company, which I liked as it all flowed together nicely. It is called ‘the Imaginarium’ and instead of bath products it is more focused on gifts and homeware. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the soap shop (I am a beauty addict after all) but it was still an amazing interior to look around and would be perfect for gifts!
Overall I would definitely recommend the shop if you are around the York area, I can’t believe it hasn’t been featured on my blog before! It is a perfect place to shop for gifts (for all sexes) and I am definitely going to feature it in my Christmas gift guide during blogmas. Although York is the biggest branch I believe, there are more around Yorkshire too so it is worth looking at the website to see where they are. I know there is certainly a branch in Leeds and one in Beverley too… let me know if you visit and pick anything up!
