Just before you carry on reading this, my last post is all about the day leading up the event so if you haven’t read that yet I would stop and click here first. Also this is my first ever video that I have uploaded to Youtube, so please be nice in the comments and bear with me as this is all new territory! I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something that I have wanted to do for a long time, but I do still need to practise a lot!
Me and my best friend Emily arrived at the shop about an hour before the guests were set to arrive. We got some nice photos in the empty shop, met all the staff and helped set up everything. I just want to take a moment to appreciate the staff who were managing the event, they were all so lovely and made the entire evening run so smoothly. I am so grateful for them staying into the evening to look after the guests and help everyone, the night wouldn’t have been the same without all of their support.
One of the little things that made the event so lovely was the little table at the front of the event. We had drinks and nibbles on the table, and then underneath all the goody bags for the guests. I loved it! We even had a little light box sign that said ‘Welcome Tori’. It was such a thoughtful touch and I loved it!
Everyone started arriving at around 6pm, and the first section of the evening was spent shopping and talking to the other guests. Due to it being my event, I spent a lot of time chatting to everyone and getting to know the bloggers that I hadn’t met before but follow this website. I had a lot of my ‘real life’ friends there and also a fair few bloggers/social influencers. I found this a nice mix as my friends got to see what a blogger event is like and I still had my comfort blanket… I think it made me a lot less nervous. A few of my closest blogging friends dropped out last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, and at first I was so disappointed but in hindsight I liked that it was smaller and I got to properly talk to every guest, if I had more guests I think I would have struggled to have a proper conversation with everyone without having to rush.
After a speech from Trisha (a lovely member of staff at The Body Shop) we got to the main activities. There were three predominant locations, hand massages with the spa of the world collection, skincare consultations and also the opportunity to get some of your makeup done. Everyone seemed to enjoy the activities (particularly the bunny ears to get the hair out of your face when having makeup done!). One of the products that we all tried and loved was the star eyeliner. It is a stamp in a star shape and the majority of people had them on their cheekbones, I think that they look so pretty and were so easy to apply. I thought that they were going to bleed on my face but they didn’t and seemed to be really long lasting. I forgot to buy one at the end of the night but when I get the chance I am definitely going to pick one up for parties etc.
One of the highlights of my entire evening was my boyfriend surprising me. He had told me that he was working until later so he couldn’t come (as we live about an hour away from the event) but he had actually got the train without telling me. The door to the shop was locked because it was an exclusive event, so when he knocked on the door and someone let him in I was so surprised… I think I gave him the biggest hug that I ever have! I had absolutely no idea, I even cried (happy tears!!) because I was so surprised. I didn’t expect him to be there because it was a beauty event and it wasn’t his thing at all, but just coming to support me made me so happy. I’m a lucky gal for sure.
Towards the end of the night I was interviewed by my lovely friend and fellow blogger/vlogger Leanne. I love that she was filming the night and I can’t wait to look back on a different perspective of the evening. I am so grateful for Leanne, she showed me that it is completely fine to vlog and video yourself for youtube in public and not be scared, which is something I really worry about! She gave me lots of tips and really motivated me to at least try in the future. I was so nervous to be on camera talking for the first time (apart from silly clips that I have never uploaded) but having her there gave me the confidence to actually speak like I usually would. I hope that some of her audience come and follow here and visa versa as her community seems to be so positive and supportive. The video hasn’t been uploaded yet but when it is I will definitely share it on my social media if you want to take a look!
Once it started to quieten down a little, I had a look around the shop myself and picked up a couple of new skincare treats. My skin has been so bad at the moment so I bought a couple of products from the tea tree range to try and clear it up a little. Everyone who attended also received a goody bag with a couple of samples in it to try, and a little thank you note from me. We also had personalised stickers for everyone who came, which is the same size as the body butters. This means that everyone is able to get a bespoke body butter with their name on, which I love!
Thank you so much to everyone who attended me or helped in any way with this event. I honestly has the most perfect evening and it was a dream come true to even be offered this opportunity… I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Not only thank you to the people who helped directly with the event, but to anyone reading this write now. Everyone who has taken the time to write a comment, like one of my photos or even read just one post, I wouldn’t be where I am without you and these opportunities wouldn’t be happening so I am so thankful. Finally if you did attend the event please let me know and send me any photos, I would love to see them ❤
