Happy 1st Birthday indigorosee!
I can’t believe that it has been a whole year since I hit upload on my blog. I was sat in a hotel room in Dublin when I finally decided that I was ready to hit upload and share my website with the world. Creating a blog had been in the back of my mind for a long time and I had already prescheduled a few posts, so it was just a case of telling social media… although that was the most nerve wracking part because I knew that everyone in real life would find out. However I am so glad that I bit the bullet and just did it as a year on I cannot imagine my life without my little corner of the internet.
I know it is cliche to say but Indigorosee has changed my life in ways that I cannot express. The amount of opportunities that I have been able to receive from blogging this year has been overwhelming and I didn’t expect a single one of them to happen. I don’t think I will ever forget the feeling I had when I walked through the doors at my first ever blogger event. I didnt (and still don’t really) feel like a ‘professional blogger’ so to think that Lush had invited me to an event was such a surreal experience. Since then I have had so many similar opportunities, I have been able to work alongside a number of different brands and I have met a lot of lovely people along the way that I would never have never have known otherwise. I really feel part of the ‘Yorkshire bloggers’ community now and thats a really nice to feel like I have made friends because of my blog.
The highlight of my entire blogging year has to be the body shop event last week. I still can’t believe that such a large and gorgeous brand had asked me to host my very own event at their York store and it was one of my favourite nights that I have had in a long time. I can only describe it as a visual representation of everything that I have achieved in regards to social media this year and trust me when I say it was a really nice feeling. Having my real life friends there, alongside my family and also a lot of local bloggers made me feel so filled with love that everyone came together to support me and my blog, and I absolutely loved that. I won’t go on about it too much because I have written a whole post about the evening, so if you want to check that out please click here.
Blogging isn’t about numbers but I do want to touch on it here because I very rarely talk about analytics. My blog has grown so quickly and I never expected that to happen, although there were times where I felt overwhelmed that so many people were seeing my posts it is such a lovely feeling to see that I am actually building a community of people one person at a time. This time last year I set myself a one year goal, and it turns out I hit that on the 20th September and I am now over 2000 over it…. I honestly can’t believe that so many people like to listen to me ramble a couple of times a week but im so glad that you do!
Which leads me onto my next point. I can’t express my gratitude enough to anyone that takes the time to read these posts… even if this is the first ever one that you have sat down to read. But to my ride or die followers (and you know exactly who you all are), I just want to take this time to thank you. Thank you for constantly commenting and liking and sharing my posts, and not just that but supporting me as a person. Im not quite sure if I deserve it, but I adore my little community so much and I couldn’t have done it without you all behind me. I hope that my platform helps you in someway, the same way that you have all helped me and my confidence.
I know that was a bit of a ramble but I just wanted to sum up this years journey in a post, as I think it will be good to look back on and mark the occasion. Hopefully next year I will do the same and see how far my little site has come on its two year anniversary!
