Ways to start feeling festive

If you aren’t feeling festive now that we are nearly halfway through December, you need to inject some serious Christmas into your life. And that is the kind of advice that I am fully qualified to provide. I thought to gather some tips and tricks to get you into the Christmas spirit and if you are like me and loving Christmas since 1st November, then here are even more ways to get excited!

First point… stop stressing. Seriously, December is a busy month and there is a hell of a lot to do and think about. Make a list and start ticking off presents, don’t leave them until the very last minute. Spend an evening sitting on your laptop and finish off your Christmas shopping. Getting organised will make you feel so much better and you can’t get into the Christmas spirit until you get rid of all the stress. This time of year is about enjoying yourself but it’s hard to not feel overwhelmed with the amount of presents you need to buy and wrap and things you need to organise. So just relax, it will happen before Christmas as it always does.

If you are someone who is organised and have already done their Christmas shopping then one good way to feel festive is to sit in front of the TV and start wrapping presents. Throw on your favourite Christmas film and get everything wrapped and under the tree, plus writing cards is such a time consuming job and worth doing one evening with the TV on in the background. Like I said before, the more organised you feel the easier it is to enjoy your Christmas. Plus I absolutely love wrapping presents and adding ribbons and bows, making them look amazing. I think it is so relaxing and fun!

Make yourself a Christmas playlist! I know a lot of people have a love hate relationship with Christmas tunes but let’s be honest, they definitely get you in the spirit. I absolutely love Christmas music and it is constantly played in my house in December. This year Sia has brought out a festive album and I am 100% in love, two of my favourite things and worth a listen to get you in the festive mood. It’s been on repeat since the day it came out!

The next way to get yourself in the Christmas spirit is to go out and actually do something, as surrounding yourself with people who are excited is contagious and will soon make you feel festive yourself. If you haven’t finished shopping, go out and spend the day getting things ticked off your list. Go to a Christmas market. Sample the Costa and Starbucks festive menu. Take some festive photos. Go watch a pantomime (unless you are like me and cringe at the very thoughts of sitting through a pantomime… I’m weird). You get the point, basically go out and do something festive… plus it’s so much fun! Taking these photos in this post made me feel really Christmassy, so I’m pretty sure this does work.

If you don’t fancy going out, have a night in. Invite some of your friends round or spend the night with your partner, even organise a night where all of your family are in and get together. Put on the TV, treat yourself to your favourite takeaway and just chill out. Ultimately Christmas is about family and friends so make time for them, and I’m sure it will make you feel festive. Having a night spent in front of the churtmas tree surrounded by decorations with people who you love is always a good idea.

Hopefully these ideas have helped you and given you some inspirations of things to do in the next couple of weeks, I know they seem quite simple but often the little things are the best. This is one of my favourite times of year and I love doing all of these things to make me feel even more festive. As always thank you so much for reading this and I hope that you are enjoying blogmas! ❤
