25/12/17

Considering that the entirety of blogmas has led up to Christmas Day, I thought that it was only right to share the 25th with you too. We have a pretty chilled Christmas Day in the grand scheme of things, I spent it at home with my family and we just relax. I love it though and it is so nice to have a day with family and have all day in the living room spending time together.

Now that I am a bit older (still adore Christmas though) I tend to wake up a bit later. I can remember the days where I woke up at 6am to rush down and open my presents, but now I treasure a lie in a little more than when I was 7. I woke up about 8am and made my way downstairs to open my gifts… in Christmas pyjamas of course. Everyone was so generous and it was so nice to receive some lovely gifts as well as watching my family open the gifts that I had bought them. We took our time and then mid morning I went upstairs to get ready.

I know a lot of people spent Christmas Day in their pyjamas but I like putting in a little effort and dressing up a bit. I think its because I love getting ready, but equally I have a lot more time to get ready and take my time on my makeup. I curled my hair and then for my makeup I went with a bronze smokey eye. I think that this is just the classic Christmas makeup look and I love it, some people pair it with a red lipstick but I didn’t think that it was the best idea for all the eating and drinking so I took it off and opted for a nude instead.

For my outfit, I wore a long green skirt paired with a black cropped top. I really like this outfit and its so comfy too, perfect for lounging around the house all day whilst still looking relatively stylish. I really like wearing long skirts and the green makes me feel pretty festive too, which I like. By teatime I had changed back into my Christmas pyjamas though so it was good whilst it lasted!

My uncle comes to our house for Christmas Day and its nice to see him, as we don’t see each other half as much as we should. We spent the morning just catching up and spending time in the living room, having a few drinks and organising (and unpacking) some gifts! My dad had got me a christmas card that you colour in yourself, so I took great pleasure in colouring it in with all of my pencils… I honestly act about 6. I also facetimed some of my friends and my dad/grandparents who I don’t see until Boxing Day. It was nice to see them (well over the phone) and share some of the excitement with them too.

Then by the time 1pm rolled around, it was time for the highlight of the day… Christmas dinner. My grandparents are amazing at making a roast and this year certainly didn’t disappoint. I absolutely adore Christmas dinner and there was so much that it will probably feed us for a week with all of the spare food. We had so much to eat and it was gorgeous, my favourites have to be the stuffing balls and pigs in blankets though… they are just the best! Its definitely the best part of Christmas Day and I don’t know how anyone could disagree with me.

The afternoon was spent relaxing in the living room, having a few drinks and overall just feeling way too full! We played a few games together and just laid out in the living room, I loved it! Christmas is always about family so it was good to spend all day with everyone and not really have much of a plan. We carried on eating (big mistake) and made our way through a lot of Christmas chocolate, but that it wouldn’t be Christmas if you didn’t spend half of the day feeling too full! I actually ended up having a nap on the sofa whilst watching a film, I was just too relaxed.

My uncle left in the early evening and I put my Christmas pyjamas back on, washed my hair ready for Boxing Day and took off my makeup. I spent the rest of the day laying on the sofa in front of the fire, watching TV and just doing absolutely nothing with my family… bliss. I ate even more chocolate (are you starting to see a theme?) and scrolled through my phone to catch up on how other people had spent their Christmas days.

I ended the day packing for my dads house (I see my dad and other grandparents on Boxing Day) and then I facetimed by boyfriend in bed to catch up and see how his day had been because we obviously don’t spend it together. I actually had quite an early night because I had to wake up earlyish the next day. Overall I had such a good Christmas Day and it was lovely to spend it at home in comfort.
