What a year 2017 has been! So much has happened and I can confidently say that I am leaving 2017 a lot happier than I entered it. There has been a few low points but that has been outweighed greatly by high points and it has overall been a bloody fantastic 12 months.
2017 is the first year that I have been blogging from the start to the finish, and I have loved being able to take my followers on the journey that is my life. We have gained so many people along the way and I am so happy that I have a little online community now. We are small, but I do like that and I love how supportive everyone is of my content. The hard work that I have put into this website is clearly paying off and I have made so many memories due to my blog this year. I’m so grateful and it couldn’t have happened without the people reading this and supporting me, so thank you.
Not only has this year been the year of blogging, but I think it has also been a good year for my friendships. I touched on this in a previous post, but I don’t really see myself as having a tightly knit, close group of friends. However when I look back on the year, most of my favourite and dearest memories have been created with my friends. Some of these people I have drifted apart from now but they are still fantastic memories that I smile at when I think about them. Summer especially was some of my happiest times and I love that I spent that having fun with all of my friends.
I wasn’t sure how to structure this post, so I have decided to list my top 10 days of 2017, sharing photos and memories as I go along. They are all in chronological order, as I couldn’t possibly put them in order of preference. Im giving you a warning that this is potentially the longest post that I have ever written, so grab a cup of tea (or beverage of choice) as you are likely to be sat here a while!
I was in London with my family and my best friend Emily, and it was our last full day away. We walked along south bank, took outfit photos, listened to some interesting street performers, spent over an hour in the beauty department at Selfridges (taking to a random woman who thought we were members of staff), relaxed in the hotel room and then nearly died of laughter in the restaurant when my nan spilt food on my grandads white shirt. It was such a chilled out and funny day, spent with people who I love the most. I really want to visit London again in 2018!
Nothing happened this day (weirdly I had an exam so I have no idea how it makes it into the top 10 of 2017) but I loved it nonetheless. I had a lie in, which lets face it are always priorities as a student, and then went out for breakfast with my grandparents. The sun was shining, it was 22 degrees and I was wearing my long floaty skirt which I adore. I sat with all of my friends in the sun revising, we laughed so much and just had an overall nice time. We ordered pizza as a pre exam treat, I sat my exam and then I spent some time with my ‘friend’ (who is now my boyfriend). Despite being at college it was just a really nice day and I can remember feeling so happy for the majority of the day. I think its the only exam I have ever walked into feeling calm!
I know I said that I wasn’t going to rank them, but this is the best day of 2017 so far without a shadow of a doubt.. I’m pretty sure in my delirious tipsy state I cried because of how happy I felt! This day was my birthday party, and it truly couldn’t have been any better if it tried. The sun was shining, I invited all of my friends and we had a huge garden party in a marquee. I spent the entire day and into the night singing and dancing with all of my friends, pretty much on every video you can see me dancing in the background. I had so much fun and I have nothing but good memories from that day, it was absolutely perfect in every shape and form. And to top it all off I proved just how extra I am by buying a tiara and wearing it all day… I couldn’t have felt more fabulous!
This is a weird one to mention but just hear me out yeah? So on this day my entire economics class piled into a minibus and we made our way to Newcastle for a conference. Now this sounds really boring and you are probably wondering how a school trip even makes it onto the top 10 days of 2017… but it was just great. We had a day filled with spontaneous laughter (‘cashier number 4 please’) in a near silent lecture theatre, singing our hearts out on the minibus, a sneaky mcdonalds trip purely to watch the tennis and just a hilarious time. It was meant to be a boring day at college but turned into a day that I will look back and laugh at for a long time. My economics squad (and teachers) hold a very special place in my heart and it makes me sad just thinking about leaving them all next year, they have become some of my best friends and it will be so strange studying it without them.
What a busy day! Its actually the day that me and my boyfriend made our relationship official, so it is a special day for that reason but that certainly is not all. It was the day that we broke up for summer from college and to celebrate a group of my friends went out for a meal. Well the original plan was to go out for a meal and then just go back to my friends, but that didnt happen. Instead we went down to the beach and just had the best time. We put makeup on one of my friends Charlie, and the entire group ended up in fits of hysterical laughter at his red lipstick and winged liner. At 1am we ended up in McDonalds (makeup Charlie still here) for a drink and a chat… it was just one of them simple moments but such a good one! I love spontaneous fun, as it is just so unplanned and that makes it even more funny and perfect.
Dublin is one of my favourite places in the world so obviously going back in 2017 was going to make the top 10. This particular day was the first day that we got there, we got an early flight and then hit the shops for a few hours once we arrived. Although my highlight of the day and why this particular day has made it into the top 10 is because of the evening. We arrived back to the hotel room, got ready slowly (whilst watching the one direction movie of all things) and then headed out. Spending time in a bar having a laugh with my family and having one too many cocktails, before heading to one of my favourite restaurants that I can only have when we go to Dublin. Such a good day and I am looking forward to going back to Dublin with my grandparents in February.
Nothing crazy happened this day but it was so perfect nonetheless, and certainly my favourite day of summer 2017. I spent time with everyone that I love and it was such a chilled out day, and I was so happy. I actually woke up quite nervous because it was my results day, but I was so proud of myself when I opened my results for my first year and I was happy with them. I went out for breakfast with my grandparents to celebrate, and then spent the rest of the day with my friends. It was so sunny and a large group of us ended up sitting on the balcony with ice cold slushes and popcorn, talking and laughing for hours. After that I ended up going on a spontaneous boat ride with my boyfriend and his friends, which was actually a lot more fun that I first thought it was going to be. We ended the night snuggled up on the sofa, with rubbish reality TV and a takeaway pizza. It was such a simple but great day and spent with all of my favourites.
My blog has brought me a crazy amount of opportunities this year (and I didn’t expect a single one) however this day certainly tops it. It was all over social media so if you follow me you will have already seen this, however in October I was asked to host my own blog event with The Body Shop in York. It was honestly one of the most surreal moments and a visual representation of how far my blog has come in a year. I am so proud of myself and IndigoRosee, and I can’t wait to see where it goes in 2018. I would love to work with more brands and build this community even larger. The actual day itself before the event was amazing too, me and my best friend went shopping and had cocktails, it was so much fun and I love taking Emily to events with me.
On this day we went on a little romantic weekend away to Leeds, and it was the first time that me and my boyfriend had ever been away together. We drank cocktails, went shopping and ate so much good food (Gusto in Leeds is a must if you visit). It was so nice to just to get away and spend a few nights together in a city that I love and will actually be moving to next year (fingers crossed!) The cutest couple of days away and I’m a lucky girl, I’m excited to make more memories together in 2018.
This was the day of the halloween party, which was hosted by my lovely friend Georgie. If you have followed my Instagram for a long time then you will have probably seen my mermaid makeup before, as I used to post a lot of costume makeup on Instagram. I love the colours of mermaids and I find them so much fun to create, and on this day my dream was fulfilled and I got to spend the night at the party fully dressed as a mermaid. I know that it wasn’t scary in the slightest, but I loved it anyway and I had been planning it for so long. I adored my skirt and the whole outfit just came together perfectly, it was everything that I had hoped for and more. The night itself was also great, everyone had dressed up and we had such a good night dancing and spending time with everyone.
So that is my 2017 summed up into my top 10 perfect moments. It was so hard to choose and I probably could have listed another 10 which I could have included, which just proves how good this year has been. I cannot believe that 2017 is coming to the end, it truly has been a special year but one which has flown by way too quickly. A busy busy year but a great one, and I look forward to seeing what 2018 holds for me.
However its not just about my year and my life. If you have got to this point I would love you to watch the google ‘year in search’ video for 2017. I loved this video when I watched it, and it really sums up the year on planet earth and humanity as a whole. I shared it on my blog this time last year too, so I think it might just turn into a little tradition. Hopefully you like it as much as I did!
As always thank you so much for reading this and I can’t believe that tomorrow is the final day of blogmas!
