A chat with @mariajblogs

If you are into fashion and lifestyle content then why are you not following Maria? She is one of my favourite Instagrammers and for such good reason, her outfit photos are gorgeous and I adore the style of her photography and editing. She has a very unique style but it stands out and I love her sense of style. She also has a very successful blog, which I love and would definitely suggest you go over and have a look at (the link will be at the bottom of this post). I was so happy when we sorted out this post and she was able to feature as she is someone that I have waned to have on ‘a chat with’ for so long.

As always, from now on my text will be in bold and Maria’s will be in a regular font.

What made you start your blog? Was it planned or a spontaneous decision one day?

I had thought about it for about 2 weeks prior to actually setting it up, I knew I really wanted to start a hobby and it seemed like the area that was most suited to my personality. After a couple of weeks I used a day off work to set up an account and it went from there!

What is your favourite part of creating a blog post? The writing, photography or something else?

The photography! When I first started I thought photography was boring, I really didn’t get the excitement behind taking a photo, but after a few posts I started to find my style and fell in love with it. I’ve been very particular ever since then.

What is your favourite social media platform to post on and why?

Lately my Instagram following has over taken my twitter, I definitely put more effort into my Instagram content (after all it’s entirely image based) but I still hold a soft spot for twitter. I love how interactive it is, I love how I can tweet one sentence and get a whole load of replies. It was my favourite from the start and although Instagram is viewed as the more important social media, twitter gets the lead slightly.

Your photography on your Instagram feed is out of this world and you definitely have one of my favourite feeds! How do you keep the ideas flowing for different shots?

Thank you! I think ultimately if you love something as much as I love this it never really stops, you might have a few days where you don’t feel as inspired but it always comes back. I’m always trying to improve on what I’ve done before, and I’m always looking at trends to see how I can put my own spin on them.

What is your favourite moment that has come out of having your blog?

I was interviewed on BBC Breakfast once, that was both a very cool and very strange 24 hours.

I know that you attend a lot of events that I have seen on social media but what is your favourite event that you have ever been to?

One that always sticks in my mind Is the PANDORA Christmas Market, you know the jewellery brand? They just put so much effort in, the whole place was covered in fake snow and real Christmas trees with jewellery hanging everywhere; it was absolute magic and I will probably never forget it. I wrote a post on it if you want to see the pictures!

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is thinking of starting a blog?

Just do it! I get asked this almost everyday, you don’t need some type of secret password to call yourself a blogger. Just make an account, write about something you’re interested in and share it! Every single blogger started out with the creation of an account.

What are the main factors that you consider before taking a brand deal?

There are so many, the main one being ‘Would I pay for this myself?’.If the answer is no then I’m not doing it. Just last week I turned down a ..VERY.. expensive handbag because I knew my audience is used to me talking about places like New Look and Primark, they would instantly know it wasn’t something I’d spend my own money on. I really like to hold myself accountable, I’d say I probably turn down about 80% (sometimes higher) of what I get offered on a daily basis – I’d rather do 4/5 quality sponsored posts a month rather than 10 for brands you’ve either never heard of or that don’t fit with me.

What has been your favourite day of 2018 so far?

March the 15th.It was my best friends birthday, I hit 10,000 Instagram followers, had afternoon tea on an actual bus, went to a launch event for one of my favourite brands: New Look, and finished the day with chicken nuggets and a doughnut time doughnut.

I talk a fair bit about beauty on my blog so we will have the last question as something beauty related, what is your holy grail product that you couldn’t live without?

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, absolutely couldn’t do without it, everyone should own a bottle.

So thats all of the questions! Thank you so much to Maria for wanting to feature, and I hope that you love her as much as I do. If you want to check out her content some more then please click the links below to go over and follow her.
