London: Day 1

I am currently sat on the train on my way home, and I am just starting to write my London diaries post. That is the sign of a good trip, when I haven’t had any time to sit down and write for 4 days. I have never been so happy to have a huge backlog of work, because I have had the best time filled with so many memories. I had truly forgotten how much I loved London, as I haven’t been for 2 years. I love that there is always something to see and you can go 10 times and do different things each time. I love it! This time my uncle came with us as well, and I had never been on a weekend away with him before so it was nice to spend some quality time together as a 4. This will be the shortest post of the 3 because we only had a half day in London, but we still packed a lot in regardless!

We got an early train, and it takes around 2.5 hours to get to Kings cross from our hometown… so we were in London and the hotel around midday. If you have been following me for a while then you will know that we always stay in the Marylebone hotel when we go to London, I haven’t stayed anywhere else because I absolutely love it. It is such a luxurious hotel, and they always make you feel so special whenever you stay. Pair that with such a central location and it truly is a perfect hotel. In my opinion anyway!

We wanted to start the trip as we mean to go on, so headed straight to the shops around Oxford street and Bond Street. We stopped off at Joe and the juice on the way though, as I love the cafe and they don’t have them where we live so I always try to go to them when we are in London or Manchester.

We spent the afternoon browsing the sales, and I purchased some new makeup bits to try. I even got 5 full sized benefit eyebrow products in the sale for £30, because of their Christmas gift sets being reduced. What a bargain! We also had a look around Carnaby street, which is currently all decorated linking to the bohemian rhapsody, and it looked amazing. Definitely one of my favourite areas in London for shopping!

We then went to mother mash for lunch, and if I had to recommend one place in London it would be this. I absolutely love it and everytime we visit I always put it on my list of places to go. Tucked away down the side of Carnaby street, it is a very narrow cafe which simply specialises in sausage and mash. It is such classic food, which is so simple and fuss free but oh so effective. You pick which sausages (or pie), mash and gravy you want and the rest is history. i personally went with the Cumberland sausages, cheesy mash and traditional gravy. You won’t be disappointed! I also love the decor and snapped this photo of the prints they have around the cafe. ‘When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life’.

We got back to the hotel around 6 and quickly got ready for our evening meal. I won’t share my outfit here because it will be featuring in the outfit diary post, which will be going live towards the end of the month, with all of my outfits from the trip. For dinner we went to Olivelli’s, which is another place I love going to whenever I am in London. It is a little Italian restaurant just off Oxford street, and I love it whenever I go. I had the carbonara (what a surprise!) and it tasted just as good as ever. I have no photos as I put my camera away and just spent time with my family, but rest assured it is lovely and I would definitely recommend it.

So that was my first day, and from it I have concluded that I have heavily fallen back in love with London. I absolutely love it, such a fab city! There are another 2 posts of the “London diaries’ going live every other day for the next week, so you can follow everything we got up to on our trip. Spoiler: it was a lot! Have you ever been to London? What would you recommend?
