I’m actually writing this about an hour after I went to junkyard golf (even though it won’t be going live for a week or two), as I just want to write up my review whilst it is all still fresh in my mind! I wasn’t even planning on writing a full review in the first place, but Junkyard golf club in Leeds was potentially the coolest date afternoon I’ve ever had so I wanted to share it with more depth than just featuring it in my next monthly round up… plus I have so many good photos that deserve to be shared!
I have been wanting to go the junkyard golf club for a while, but kept putting it off for some reason, or whenever I have looked into it it was fully booked. We decided to book it about 2 weeks ago so we had something to look forward to, and it also meant that we definitely got in. I think you can just walk up and request a game, but I would definitely recommend booking in advance as it can get so busy, you don’t want to be disappointed.
We went to the Junkyard golf club in Leeds but I know they are dotted about the country, and it was £9 each for us to get in, as we went in the afternoon and on an off peak time. Just to be aware: you must be 18 or over to attend the junkyard golf club (apart from set “child friendly hours”) and they do ID on the door due to the selling of alcohol. I thought to mention that here as I know a lot of my audience are younger!
After leaving our coats in the cloakroom, we headed upstairs to the junkyard golf club bar. They had a lot of cocktails on offer, and we shared a raspberry frozen daiquiri before it was our turn to start the game. I think having a cocktail bar is a good idea but be wary that the cocktails are quite expensive, so it’s maybe a good idea to have some drinks beforehand if you are planning on drinking at the junkyard golf club. Just a heads up!
We opted for the Pablo course as we liked the idea of a jungle theme, although junkyard golf club in Leeds has 3 courses to choose from. I definitely want to try the other 2 when I get chance as I absolutely loved it! The theming of the courses and decor in general is outstanding, and really what sets junkyard golf club apart from other attractions I have been to. Every bit of decor has been thought of and it definitely appeals to the younger “Instagram generation” as everything is so photogenic and just has a very cool vibe about it. Plus if you know me you know how much I adore neon signs and they were absolutely everywhere… my idea of heaven!
The actual crazy golf itself was SO MUCH FUN. I haven’t played crazy golf in years (which is surprising considering I live in a seaside town) and it was a lot of fun to have a laugh together and not take things too seriously! That being said, I did win… so I’m taking that bit incredibly seriously!! It’s not very often we go on dates that are an activity, instead usually opting for a meal out, so it was nice to get out and do something we wouldn’t normally do.
The whole game lasted about 40 minutes for 2 people, but you can play up to 6 people so that would last a lot longer I presume. I overall think that it is very good value for money, and over 9 holes works out at £1 a hole.
Once we came out of the course, we headed to the GIF booth, which I have actually never done before. Basically it is a photo booth except it takes 6 images very quickly and makes them into a GIF that you can share on social media. I have never seen anything like this before and I loved that it was a free service for people to use as it would have been very easy to charge for the service. I would definitely recommend checking it out and making some GIFs if you decide to go to the junkyard golf club, I presume that they have them in every branch! Here if the GIF me and my boyfriend made… so cute I love it!
Overall I loved the junkyard golf club Leeds and I would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting something a bit different to do in the city… it will definitely be featuring in my “best places for students in Leeds” post that will be going live in the summer I hope! Perfect for a date or going with a group of your friends, whoever you decide to go with you will definitely have a great time.
