I recently saw the lovely Jemma do this (click here) and I absolutely loved the idea, so I thought to recreate the ‘A-Z of me’ for this post. Basically you go through every letter of the alphabet and associate it with a word that links to you or your personality… hence ‘A-Z of me’. I thought it was a genius idea and a great way to introduce myself if you don’t already know a lot about me! I did ‘50 facts about me’ about 18 months ago but they will be so outdated now, so the ‘A-Z of me’ will be a good refresher.
Warning: A-Z of me is going to be a super long post and I apologise. There is just so much to get through! Grab a cuppa tea (more on that later) and get prepared for a fair bit of reading.
Autumn is my favourite season by a mile. I love when it starts to get a bit cooler (but not too cold), enough to feel cosy in a cardigan but not enough for your fingers to be freezing off. Pair that with all the colours changing, and being able to get out all of your winter clothes (which I just feel so much more confident in), autumn is a very happy time of year for me.
What else could this one be? Blogging is the reason you are reading this right now, and is my hobby (and now technically part of my job). I absolutely love it, and I hope to be documenting my life in some form for a long time yet.
Of course cheese is going to have to be mentioned in the A-Z of me, but camembert holds a very special place in my cheese loving heart. I have only just discovered it recently, and I don’t know how I lived my whole life without it. I adore it, and have way more than what is an acceptable amount to eat.
My favourite place in the world, and definitely my happy place. I don’t think I have ever gone to Dublin and not been happy. I always come back from a trip feeling refreshed and like I have had an escape, and that any stress I have is put in perspective. Good hotel, good food and great company? Theres nothing more I want.
A third of my degree, and the subject that made me choose my degree in the first place. I wanted to include this in here because not only do I enjoy economics, but economics lessons at sixth form genuinely hold some of the best (and funniest) memories of my teenage life. So many good laughs on a Monday afternoon, and even to this day I genuinely miss it.
F- family and friends
I am not the closest to my family and friends really (my immediate family is pretty small and my friends are dotted all over the country) but every single one of them mean the world to me. I would call myself an ‘introverted extrovert’ and although I do like having time on my own to be productive, there is nothing better than spending time with people you love. I would drop everything for any of my family and friends, and I know they would always do the same for me.
A bit more of a lighthearted one now, and this is my love for glitter. If I could have everything glittery I would, but I hold back and mainly just have incredibly glitter nails. Last Christmas I also had cosmetic graded tinsel running through my hair, which I absolutely loved. I don’t know why glitter makes me so happy, I’m just a magpie I think!
I have always been a Homebird, but this year especially has turned me into a huge lover of being at home so it needed to feature in ‘A-Z of me’. Theres no better feeling than going back home, being able to do whatever you want (including having a bath!) and spending time with your family. I love it, and I always end up feeling so much relaxed and being in a better place mentally.
I- indigo rosee
My love, my baby and my business. Hands down the best decision I ever made and still to this day my proudest achievement, so obviously it had to feature in ‘A-Z of me’. To say that I pour my heart and soul into Indigo Rosee (both the blog and business) is an understatement, and it has become something I didn’t even expect it to become. I just can’t wait to see what the future holds, I have a feeling 2020 is going to be a fab business year!
My best friend for 2 years, and my partner for nearly 1 (where has that year gone?). I’m not going to be soppy and romantic, but all I will say is that I am very happy right now and I hope that it continues for a long time. Theres not a day goes by that I don’t laugh until my sides hurt, and I’m so grateful to be with someone who I can be 100% myself around… and they still like me! We are proof that relationships from before university can work if you are willing to put in the effort and support each other, although that being said I am so excited for summer where we can make memories in one place rather than constantly travelling!
K- keyhole surgery
This is such a stupid one, but we couldn’t think of one for K… so this is my grandads input to the A-Z of me! But it is true and something you might not know about me, I had keyhole surgery last year to ease a lot of pain I was having in my ovaries, uterus and pelvis. I have a lot to thank that surgery for, it made my quality of life take a full 180, and although it was scary it was probably one of the best things to happen to my health.
Of course this had to feature! My favourite makeup product and now my whole life due to @indigoroseebeauty, I wasn’t quite aware of how little bits of synthetic hairs could change my life. I love them, they make me feel confident and you guys seem to be loving them too!
Music has always played a huge part in my life. My whole family love music so I was brought up listening to all kinds of styles, and that is reflected in my random music taste now! I also went to musical theatre school on a Saturday morning for nearly 10 years, which also gave me such a broad music taste. Its very rare you will find me not listening to music now, and I love discovering new songs and singing along to them in the car. What is your favourite song?
N- neon signs
I dont really know where this obsession originated from, but I am honestly obsessed with neon signs. If ever I see one I have to take a photo, which has resulted in so many pointless neon sign photos on my phone! I think they are just so beautiful and I could look at them all day, so much so that for my birthday last year my grandparents bought me a neon Indigo Rosee logo… it lives on the entrance to my office and everytime I look at it I feel so motivated.
I think that this is my best trait, so it needed to included. Organisation is definitely something that I am good at, and I can organise anyone! I am the queen of lists and there is no better feeling in my opinion to being organised, it just makes me so happy when I feel like I have got my shit together… I think I get it from my nan.
P- parties (particularly house parties)
Im not a huge drinker (cheers medication) but I do love a party. Some of my best memories have been made at house parties or at my annual garden party, and honestly I wish people did them more often rather than going out clubbing. Absolutely hilarious times and even now when everyone has their ID I still try to host house parties, I just think they are a better time! I love a good celebration, although more on that later.
I take a lot of pride in my academia, and I always try to get as many qualifications as I can. Nobody likes studying but I do like the satisfaction that I get from achieving good grades, and doing my best. A levels were probably one of the best times of my life, and although that sounds weird to say because I felt permanently stressed, I liked having something to work towards and succeed in. I feel like I don’t get the same satisfaction with my degree because I don’t have many contact hours, maybe next year I will start to feel that surge of motivation again.
R- roses and sunflowers
My two favourite flowers and the combination of them are my absolute favourite. I love how the yellow and the red look together, and they just make me so happy. Take note of sunflowers though: something exciting might be coming linked to them soon *wink wink*
S- sausage dogs
Now these are my real favourite. My obsession with sausage dogs properly started around year ago, and my love for them grows every single day. If you ever lose me, I will be sat scrolling through #sausagedogsofinstagram on my phone, which I do more than I ever care to admit. I don’t even know why I love them so much- they are just the cutest little animals I have ever seen. One day I will have one of my own!
There is no better feeling than getting in after a long day, and putting the kettle on. Any emotion under the sun and good cup of tea and a chat will sort it out. I can even count how many cups of tea I drink in a day, and its definitely my nan’s genes that have made me into such a tea drinker. My favourite? English breakfast with no sugar and a splash of milk. Bliss.
That is the stage of life that I am at right now, so I thought it deserved a part of my A-Z of me. I’m not sure how I feel about university, it certainly isn’t the best time of my life like I thought it would be, but it certainly isn’t the worst either. I’m very indifferent to the whole thing, and I feel like that is often overlooked. If you are happy then nobody worries, and if you hate it you drop out… but nobody really pays attention to the indifferent people. Thats a rant for another day though!
V- valentines day
You know I said earlier about always loving a celebration? I know that people have very opposing opinions of valentines day, but I just see it as an excuse to celebrate. Being able to send people cards and express how much you appreciate them? Being able to spoil your loved ones? You shouldn’t need an excuse but I love all the celebrations and people showing just how much they love people around them. Fun fact: I love valentines day so much that I told my family we were going to have two… and I celebrated it again on 14th august!
If you have been following me for a while you might know this, but I have a cuddly toy walrus called Wilma that has been part of my life for nearly 5 years now… thats crazy! She has flown to the other side of the world (twice!) and has generally just been my companion since I was about 12. Its definitely a comfort thing but I can’t imagine not buying her now, she is also the first thing I would save in a fire when my friends and family were safe.
Back to the celebration thing, there is nothing I love more than Christmas. I love being able to spend time with family and friends (especially now I am at uni and seeing them is not as frequent as I would like it to be). Nothing better than eating, drinking and being merry in the warmth with all of your loved ones. Im already excited and its months away yet!
Once again a bit of a throwaway one, because I didn’t know what to write for Y! However, I know everyone knows that I am at university in Leeds but I don’t think people know that I am from Yorkshire originally too. Obviously I aren’t going to reveal exactly where I live, but I’m Yorkshire (and proud!) and I think I will live around this area for a long time.
Im finishing the A-Z of me with one of my favourite things, sleeping! As much as I love waking up early (and talking about it in this post) there is nothing better than a good long sleep. I am someone who really needs sleep (or else I turn very moody and very run down) so I spend a lot of time in bed. Nothing better!
26 letters and 26 words to represent me… that took a long time to write! I really enjoyed sitting down and thinking of all of the words though, and I think that the ‘A-Z of me’ is a great post to help introduce people to your blog. Are you a blogger? Make sure to tag me if you recreate the A-Z of me! As always thank you so much for reading, and I hope you know more about me now than when you started reading this.
