I first got a request to do this after I posted my 101 posts (click here for lashes and nails) but I put it off for ages. This is because I have never really been good at doing my eyebrows, and it is the part of my makeup routine which I hate doing, until I bight my new benefit brow products. They have only recently started to look better, but then I know that in a years time I will look back and cringe at them. I have gone through my fair share of phases in regards to my eyebrows and they have definitely evolved the most since I started wearing makeup, and I’m so glad I stopped making them super thick (heavily influenced by Cara Delivingne) like I did everyday back in 2016. Not a good look! Now they are a much better shape but although they are dark, they are pretty sparse and overall I definitely need to improve!
That being said, I have recently been investing in some more benefit brow products to help me create a better look, so I thought to do this blog post featuring a review of them. When I was in London a few months ago I bought some benefit brow products in the sale, so I could try 5 of their best-selling products for under £40, which is a huge saving on what they are individually. I always used cheap brow products before (NYX are amazing and I actually featured their brow gel in this post) but I thought to treat myself to something more luxury, and I am really glad that I did. They are definitely lovely products, and the silver packaging is to die for!
Ka-prow eyebrow cream-gel colour- I have used this a couple of times since I bought it, and usually for when I want a darker and thicker brow because it gives a much more full effect. It is a pomade texture, and is very similar (if not a dupe) to the Anastasia dip-brow pomade that I used to use religiously a few years ago. It is a good texture, but I think the mousse texture makes it oh too easy to make your brows really thick, which is exactly how my incredibly intense brows of 2016 happened. I only really use this product for nights out because it is pretty intense but it is good if you do like a much fuller block brow, its just not really my style anymore. I do think that its a great little product if you travel a lot though because it comes with a little brush in the lid, making it super convenient. I think overall I prefer the Anastasia one because it is more of a waxy texture, but both are good and the benefit version is a lot easier to get your hands on in the UK.
Foolproof Brow Powder-
I haven’t really used this too much, as I think that powders take the longest to apply and make the brows look less defined. I used to use powders all of the time and I think thats where I was maybe going wrong! What I do like about this product is the travel-friendly packaging with a mirror, which I think would be great for travelling. I also love how they have faded the shade of the power from a lighter brown to nearly black, to encourage you to create a stylish ‘faded brow’ being lighter at the arch and then deepening at the tail. Personally I haven’t mastered that look at all, but I think it looks really nice on others so I would like to improve my skills. Overall this is the one that I have used the least out of all of the benefit brow products but still thought to mention my opinion as best I can despite the limited use.
Precisely my brow pencil-
I haven’t used a thin pencil like this for a long time, so I was very excited to use one again in the benefit brow products collection. I used to use one all of the time when I first started filling in my brows a few years ago but haven’t bought one since, so this was a very welcome edition to my makeup bag. It gives such a nice natural effect due to the brush stroke movement that you have to do (drawing in the individual hairs) but equally it is buildable if you have some extra time to spend on your makeup. I can definitely see why it is a bestseller of out of all the benefit brow products, and if ever I have a little bit more time on a morning I always use this. It has the product on one end and a little brush on the other, so everything you need to do your eyebrows is contained into one pencil. The only issue is that I wouldn’t recommend it for on an evening if you are going to experience flash photography, because it tends to flashback a lot on photos and makes my eyebrows a lot more grey toned than in real life. My hair is naturally quite a warm toned brown, so on photos it looks a little weird. Its fine in real life and on normal photos but on flash it is completely the wrong colour. Just something to note and be conscious of if you are subject to flash photography frequently.
Goof proof eyebrow pencil-
This is by far my favourite product in the whole set and I now use it pretty much daily. It is the same idea as the precisely my brow pencil with the product at one end and a brush at the other, but this one is different in the sense that it is a lot thicker than a normal pencil. This makes it so much quicker to do a full brow look without spending ages doing it, but still getting the precision of a pencil. I absolutely love it! The waxy texture also means my brows stay in place all day and don’t budge, which is definitely a good thing. Even more so if you also use the next product that I mention! Overall this is probably the product that I would recommend the most and definitely the brow product that I have been using the most, as when I go away for the weekend I just take this no matter what we are doing, as it works so well for both day and night. I will be continuously repurchasing these from now on as my go to brow product as I cannot fault it.
Gimme brow volumising eyebrow gel-
This product is the whole reason I bought the set in the first place. My nan gave me a sample of this a few months ago because it was too dark for her (she has really fair eyebrows compared to me) and I had been using it ever since, so I knew I needed to go and buy the full sized one. It is definitely one of my stand out products of the year so far, and no matter what other benefit brow product or brand I use I will always finish it off with this. It sets my brows in place really well without being too hard and crispy, like other brow gels that I have tried. I also love that it has a little tint to it because even when I am wearing very little makeup, I comb through my brows with this and although it does fill them in completely it does add some shape and colour to them. I love the effect it gives! I use mine as a setting gel but if you eyebrows were pretty full to start with, you could just use this as your complete brow product to shape them and add a bit of colour.
One thing that I do wish was in the collection is a waterproof gel, like the Nyx one that I use a lot or the makeup forever one that I think is such a cult product. The benefit brow products haven’t replaced this for me, and I still reach for the Nyx brow gel if I need something that WILL NOT BUDGE (seriously, its actually waterproof) so I always use it when I am going clubbing and know that I will be sweating my makeup off all night. Even if all of my makeup has smeared off, my eyebrows will always be in place. I definitely think this would be a good edition to the benefit brow products collection.
I hope that this post has been informative and useful to share some of my new favourite benefit brow products for my brows. I’m still not good at doing them by any means but regardless I am happy that I got to share a review of my new products that I have been buying recently. I am always up for any recommendations and tips/tricks you have to make my brows better and my life easier, so keep sending them to me.
