I have seen so many people doing ‘project pan’ recently, so I thought to give it a go. ‘Project pan’ is where you take old products that you already own, and try to use them regularly so you hit pan on them (although if you want a full explanation then click here). I think this is a genius idea, as I am a self-diagnosed makeup addict and have so many products that I just never use them up, because I love trying different brands and formulas. I think that ‘project pan’ is such a good idea to put effort into using products and getting through your collection, rather than repeatedly buying new products (which I confess too). Plus it is better for the environment too! I have been making a conscious effort to use up some of my products in 2019, so I thought to share which ones have been a success.
For each of the products: I will share what I think of the product and whether I will repurchase it when it fully uses up. I hope that it provides a review as well as my project pan list! I have missed doing beauty content so I am so excited to share these, it feels like 2016 Indigo Rosee is back. Also excuse how dirty all of the packaging is- these products are so well loved and used, so clearly they are going to be a bit battered and bruised around the edges!
Mac studio fix powder-
I have had this for a long time (probably way too long if I actually think about it) so it was definitely a project pan priority as it is taking up a lot of space in my collection. I bought this back when I was getting into makeup properly and I thought it was really cool to own Mac products, when in reality I definitely do not think that this is the best products out there. Don’t get me wrong it is not a bad pressed powder but it certainly isn’t my favourite, and considering the price, I wouldn’t be buying it again. Instead I would opt for some of the amazing drugstore powders out at the moment!
Jeffree Star Androgyny palette-
This is technically cheating because I haven’t hit pan on all of the shades but I have been focusing my attention onto this palette more recently to try and hit pan on at least some of the shades. I would recommend this palette to anyone who is wanting to try Jeffree’s products but are maybe a bit wary of the more intense colours. This is a perfect daytime palette but also has some interesting colours with the blues at the end of the palette. I adore the formula of the palette, and although I am biased towards Jeffree, I do think his products are insane. Would definitely recommend- I really want to get my hands on the blood sugar palette next! This one is definitely a working progress when it comes to project pan, but I had to include it because it is one of my top 3 favourite eyeshadow palettes (although that post is coming soon).
Mac soft and gentle highlight-
This is the first high end highlighter that I have ever bought and it has definitely done me proud… although needed to desperately feature on project pan because it is very far past its best before date, especially considering I included it in this post back in 2017! I love the pink glitter in this, and it makes for the best strong highlighter on photos (especially if you spray your face with Fix+ first), I honestly adore it. Will definitely be repurchasing another one when this one truly runs out!
The balm Mary Louminser highlight-
I have loved this highlighter for a long time, and I couldn’t bear to live without it so as soon as it hit pan I bought another… thats how much I love it! What I love about this highlighter is how it works on EVERY SINGLE SKINTONE. If ever I do anyone’s makeup (granted not as often anymore) I use this as I know it will look fab, and works well on my skin if I am wearing fake tan or not. It is such a versatile product and it will definitely be in my makeup bag for a long time yet regardless of it featuring in project pan!
Jeffree star Ice Cold highlight-
Oh what a surprise… another highlighter! I have had this highlighter for quite a while, but I only use it for my inner corner and browbone highlight… which is such a huge product for something so small each usage! I felt like I was never going to finish it, but then I found that it is amazing to use with a fan brush on top of your usual highlight to really make it shine. Ice cold is such a white shade, so is perfect for really making your highlight glow. I love it and its meaning that I can use it a little quicker now!
Kat von D shade and light powder palette-
This is quite an old product, so needed to be focused on in project pan because it is incredibly close to its best before date. Don’t get me wrong, I have really enjoyed using this product and I like the choice of shades you get in the palette (which makes it good for travelling as you can use it on the eyes as well), but when it is used up I will not be repurchasing. It is up to you what your opinions are on Kat Von D and her brand, however her morals are not in line with mine (by any stretch of the imagination) so I am choosing not to purchase from or promote her products on my blog in the future. Its all personal preference- obviously I don’t want to waste any makeup that I have bought so I am using this up in project pan and then I will be seeking an alternative.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer-
If you haven’t ever tried this, you need to. It is slightly more on the expensive side but it is the best bronzer that I use and this must be my third one now… I’m genuinely obsessed. It is not too warm or cooled toned, so make the perfect all round bronzer for my skin tone. They even do a lighter one now for people with paler skin. I also use this for my transition colour on my eyes if I am travelling and don’t want to take a separate eyeshadow that does the same job, so it is good for numerous purposes. I get through them and hit pan so quickly because I love it so much!
Becca opal highlighter-
Can you tell I like highlighter considering 4 of my collection have featured in project pan? I just love highlighter so much, and it is definitely my favourite makeup product to buy (hence the reason I needed to minimise my collection slightly using project pan). Becca highlighters are honestly my treat product, as they are so expensive. Becca opal I bought as a congratulations to myself for my exam results after I saw Jamie Genevieve talk about it a lot, and my goodness I fell in love. It is the smoothest highlighter that I have ever tried and just so luxurious, I don’t think my makeup collection will be the same without it but with such a high price tag… Im not sure I will be repurchasing again.
So these are the products that I have hit pan on, and I am looking forward to getting them used up so it streamlines my collection a bit more. I think that project pan is such a good way to do it! Let me know if you are going to try this, as I would love to see how your ‘project pan’ products are coming along. I might do another one of these at the end of the year to see if anymore of my products have also hit pan, as I think I’m going to move my focus towards my extensive eyeshadow collection…. As barely any have hit pan! I think it would be good to see the progress as the months go on. As always thank you so much for reading this post, it means so much.
