Oh hello new style of post! I have never done a post like this before but have been planning this series for a while, and I can’t wait to share a lot of more beauty-focused content over the next few months. I often get asked my recommendations for beauty products, so I thought to make my recommendations into a ‘top 3’ series, starting with top 3 cleansers.
I do really like skincare, (heres my skincare routine from last year) and although it is not my true passion in life (compared to makeup) I do really enjoy treating myself to nice products. I have always been brought up having a good routine, as my nan is the queen of skincare and taught me the importance of it.
Cleansing is probably one of my favourite parts of my skincare routine, as I really like the feeling of taking your makeup off at the end of the day. I wear a lot of heavy makeup and my skin can often feel congested, so theres no better feeling than cleansing away all the makeup and leaving your skin feeling fresh. It was so hard to narrow it down to my top 3 cleansers, and there are certainly plenty more that I have loved and used over the years. I prefer the hot cloth versions, so that is why all of my top 3 cleansers are that style. What is your favourite type of cleanser?
For some reference: my skin type is very much combination and typical of an 18 year old. I have some dry patches that reside mainly under my eyes, and I do get some breakouts (mainly on my chin, forehead and temples) as a result of hormones. Thats one of the main reasons I love skincare, as it really balances out my skin. When choosing my top 3 cleansers, I tried to think about the ones that everyone would love, and I would say that they are all suitable for sensitive skin too.
Temple spa ‘Wet n Dry cleansing lotion’ – £21
This is the newest edition to the skincare family (I have only had it about 2 months) but it has already made it into my top 3 cleansers, so it must be good. I love that you can use this wet or dry, which is a really unique concept and the only one like it in my top 3 cleansers. Perfect if you only want to buy one cleanser for everything you need and it also makes it ideal for travelling! Usually I will use it like a typical hot cloth cleanser (and a flannel) but when I’m not wearing any makeup I will put some on a cotton pad and sweep it over my face to cleanse and refresh my skin. It is not a cheap product but if you do both styles of cleansing then it is worth the money, and because of its luxury price tag it does feel nice on the skin. If you wear a lot of heavy makeup I wouldn’t recommend it as much as the other two in my top 3 cleansers though, because it isn’t as good at removing very stubborn makeup. Overall it is so nice for natural days and I do still use it a lot as a light product, hence the reason it has made it into my top 3 cleansers.
Liz Earle cleanse and polish- £17
The first high end skincare product that I ever bought (after seeing all of the original British beauty youtubers talking about it), and since then I have continued to repurchase it over and over again. I think I have been using it since about 2014 now, so nearly 5 years! I can never not have one in my collection, so much so that I even own backup ones now… I can’t get enough of it and thats why it is in my top 3 cleansers (and probably my favourite to be honest). It is a cream texture and melts your makeup away without feeling too harsh, instead feeling like it is adding moisture back into the skin. The classic scent is lovely but every so often they do limited edition scents that always smell lush. I honestly can’t get enough of this product and definitely the skincare product that I recommend the most to friends. If you haven’t already… try it!
Body shop camomile cleansing butter- £10
I first discovered this about 2 years ago, and it has firmly sat in my top 3 cleansers since then. It is so good! It is reasonably priced (considering how long it lasts and how little you need), and the formula is like no other that I have tried. It starts off as a butter but as your rub it between your fingers it turns into an oil, and feels so luxurious on the skin. Plus it takes your makeup off so well its insane, literally melting it away when you rub the product into your skin. I think this is such a lovely product and perfect for any skin type. Definitely worth looking into if you are wanting to try a good hot cloth cleanser but don’t want to spend a high-end price.
I hope that you have enjoyed seeing an insight into my skincare cupboard! Now that I have shared my top 3 cleansers, is there anything else that you want to see in the top 3 series? I have a few more ideas on the lineup for the next couple of months, but I am always up for suggestions. As always, thank you so much for reading this and I hope that this has given you some recommendations on what cleansers to try. Let me know what you think of them!
