This past year has been HUGE, like seriously had some pretty life changing moment in it. I thought as my birthday is TODAY, it would be a good time to have a ramble and reflect on some of the things that I achieved since my last birthday, by sharing 18 things that I have achieved in the past 365 days. It was hard to narrow down to the most important 18 things, but I think I have curated a pretty perfect list to sum up all of the highlights of the past year. I actually did this post 2 years ago now, so if you want to see that then click here to be redirected over there.
So lets start… Here are 18 things that I have achieved in the past year, all in chronological order:
- Had the best night of my life
Pretty good way to start the year isn’t it? I’ve said it once (in this post specifically) and ill say it again… I highly doubt anything, apart from potentially my future wedding day, is ever going to top my 18th birthday party. It was the first time I have ever had all of my family and friends under one roof, everyone danced together and I spent the majority of the night twirling around like a princess on the dance floor with all of my loved ones (and crying… of happiness of course). I got very drunk, I felt so free from everything that had been dragging me down in 2018 so far and this was the turning point from being in quite a negative headspace to being in a positive one. I could sill cry thinking about how perfect that night was and it has been a year already.
- Had surgery
I don’t really think this is an achievement as such as I didn’t do anything, but what I did achieve was my life back. Again, this was another turning point of the past year where the negatives started to solve themselves and I started seeing life in a more positive light again (sorry… I know that was rather deep of me). Surgery, although tough, was such a positive experience as it meant I got my quality of life back and I could start living my life like a “normal” 18 year old should be able to do.
- Went abroad without my family for the first time
If you read my blog regularly you will know that I am such a homebird, and although I have got better as the year has gone on, I’m still not the best at leaving my family for long periods of time. This was actually the first trip I had ever been on without my family for longer than 2 days, so needless to say it was a pretty huge deal for me. I did it though! Me and my best friend flew to Tenerife and had an amazing week in the sun, and made plenty of memories that wouldn’t have ever been made otherwise. Goes to show that pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is often a really good thing.
- Received my A level results
This feels like such a long time ago now, but one of my 18 things needs to be my A level results. I put so much work into my A levels and my results are without a doubt one of my proudest achievements. Not because of the grades but more because it proved to me how far I can push myself in order to get what I want, and I learnt so much about myself from it.
- Fell in love with sausage dogs
This is a random one to put on a list of 18 things, because it is not exactly an achievement, but in the past year I fully fell in love with sausage dogs. I have always thought that they were cute but after meeting Noodle in Newcastle (click here for the full post), I established that my new life goal is to own a family of sausage dogs. My heart just can’t cope with them.
- Finally Met Ruby
Ruby has been my online bestie since 2016, but last September was when we finally met. After talking online for over 2 years, finally meeting had to be on my list of 18 things. I love Ruby and we are totally on the same wavelength in life, so the Internet allowing us to cross paths was definitely an amazing thing that has come because of my blog and social media. We have since met 3 times and we are actually going to the same uni next year so I hope we will see each other a lot more.
- Moved to uni (and survived)
University is definitely the biggest life change of my year, and although I have established I’m not the university type of person, I am so glad I didn’t drop out like I was going to. I have made some fab memories this year and even though its not the experience I thought I was going to have, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Like I always say- I’m not going to graduate university with a lot more academic skills but I’m certainly going to be leaving knowing a lot more about myself compared to what I knew before.
- Met my Manchester family.
Something good that has come out of university! Its a shame that they are all in a completely different city (and countries for half of the year!) but I do love them and it has been so much fun getting to know such a diverse group of people this year. My best friend that I have met this year is actually my boyfriend’s flatmate, so we have had plenty of fun weekends and I’m sure theres plenty more to come next year when I am going to be visiting even more.
- Indigo Rosee hit 2 years old.
How is this little space on the internet nearly 3 years old now? Its crazy to me that I have been documenting so much of my life, and it has truly gone so quickly. A lot in my life has changed in that time but my blog has always been there, and I know for a fact that it always will be. I can’t wait to document the rest of my teenage years, graduation, moving out (again!) and my journey into adulthood. I just hope people stick along for the crazy ride with me.
- Had my first professional photoshoot.
I have wanted a professional photoshoot to up my Instagram game for a while, but this year I finally did it. I have always been so nervous to actually book one but I am so glad that I did, because I love what was created and I have actually ever felt prettier. I will definitely be booking another one over the summer as, not only are they a huge confidence boost, but they also are super helpful for creating content. So glad I finally had the confidence to do it, and all I want to do now is increase my confidence further so I can experiment with different poses and shots.
- Attended the best blog event.
In the past 2 years I have been lucky enough to attend a lot of blog events, however the Kiss event I attended at cloud 23 was truly the best event that I have ever been too. The venue was so magical, I got to dress up and I spent the evening getting through the complimentary bar and staring at the view thinking ‘how the hell did I get here?’. It was one of them moments that put everything into perspective for me, and made me realise just how much my hard work has paid off. Not many people can say they have been to an event like that aged 18!
- Blulu was formed.
Again, this is a random one but I am so happy that this has happened this year. If you keep up with my life on social media you will know that I have quite a big friendship group, but after one spontaneous and slightly regrettable night out… blululu was born. Me, Isy (my best friend of 7 years), Will and Dan created the group of dreams and since then blululu have stuck together. We have always been friends but now we are a little night out squad and ‘doing it for blululu’ has become a suitable justification for just about anything, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
- LAUNCHED A BUSINESS.
That just had to be in caps lock as it genuinely one of my proudest achievements of my entire life, not just the past year, so it had to be one of the 18 things. I have poured my heart and soul into my business, and continue to do so, and it means the world that all of this is paying off. People love the lashes and I absolutely love seeing people rocking them. People have also made art based on my logo and packaging, which will never get old. It makes my day everytime I see anyone loving Indigo Rosee Beauty!
- Hosted my own launch party.
This leads on from the last point but the day of my launch I hosted a party to celebrate all things Indigo Rosee Beauty, and it was without a doubt one of the proudest moments of my life. I was the youngest person in the room, surrounded by my family, friends and so many bloggers that I respect in the industry. We made cocktails, had a laugh and everybody got to see the reveal of the new lashes. A night I will never forget!
- Saw frank turner live.
I have only really discovered Frank Turner in the last year, but after surprising my boyfriend with concert tickets for his birthday, I really started to listen to his music and love it. The concert was amazing, he is without a doubt a showman, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. At one point he even decided to actually crowd surf, which was something I never thought I would see live with 2019 health and safety rules. I would 100% go again if he ever decides to host another show near me.
- Went to my first festival.
Its hard to believe that I am such a music lover yet have never been to a festival, although that definitely changed last month when I went to big weekend for the first time. It was such a fun day in the sun (and rain!) with my best friend, dancing and singing without a care in the world. It was actually the first day of my summer too, so what better way to celebrate? Loved every minute of it and I know for a fact that I will definitely be going to more festivals next year.
- Passed by driving test.
This is definitely one of the 18 things that I am most proud of! On 29th May I passed my driving test, and driving was definitely not something that came naturally to me. I won’t go on too much about it in this post as I am actually thinking of doing a whole blog post next month about my driving experiences and tips, but I wanted to document it on here as it was my New Years resolution and I’m so proud that I did it only 5 months into the year.
- Launched another collection of lashes.
This is the last one on the list because I only launched the summer collection 2 weeks ago, but I am so proud of it and it is still one of my proudest achievements. I wasn’t sure how much of a success my business would be, so I am so proud that within 6 months of the first launch I am in a position that I am able to launch another range of lashes. Thats all down to all of the support I have been given though, so thank you so much.
Wow… that post took over 2 hours to write. It was so nice to be able to reflect on the achievements since my last birthday, and narrow it down to my 18 favourite things. If you know me, you know how much I love reflective posts and I am so proud of everything I have done since this time last year. Its crazy! As always thank you so much for reading this, as without the support on my posts lots of the things on this list wouldn’t have even been possible. Heres to another year in my crazy life, lets hope by the time I am 20 there will be so many more things added to this list.
