Following on from my last post where I shared 18 things that I achieved when I was 18, I thought I would set some goals for 19 things that I would like to do whilst I am 19. As much as I think it is important to reflect, it is important to look forward and draw up some goals that I would like to achieve. I think that the majority of the 19 things on this list are feasible, and hopefully I will be able to document each one on my blog in the next 365 days. That being said I wrote a post like this 2 years ago (click here) and there are STILL a few things I haven’t done on it… so this year. I need to make more of an effort. There seems to be a lot of business and travel goals on there, and if that is the focus of next year I will be super happy.
So here are 19 things I would like to achieve before I am 20:
- Have a spa day
When I was reading back through the post from a few years ago that I just mentioned, this was one of the ones on the list that I still haven’t achieved, so it had to have a place on the list of 19 things for this year. I can’t think of anything better than having a chilled day, getting some treatments and really relaxing. I think I need it!
- Go up The Shard
This is the first travel one of many on this list of 19 things, but it is something I really want to do. I have seen photos of the view and I just want to see it for myself, plus I absolutely love seeing skylines. One of biggest goals is to see the New York skyline again (I saw it when I was 5 but can’t remember it)- but thats not a goal for this year!
- Hit 5k Instagram followers on @indigoroseebeauty
As I am writing this we are so close to 3k and, considering I started the page in January, that blows my mind. If we can reach 3k in 6 months, where do you think we will be this time next year? I hope we can hit 5k, and potentially even more. Instagram is my favourite Instagram platform and the one I put the most time into, so I would love to see my hard work pay off (even though Instagram is so difficult to grow on… trust me).
- Release a new product (that isn’t lashes!)
This is a big one, and one that is going to take a lot of work (alongside second year of uni… why do I do this to myself?) but I really want to release a product that isn’t lashes. I have been sampling some things and there is something in the pipeline, but I’m not sure you will be seeing it this side of Christmas. Product development is hard work but I hope I can release it before I am 20!
- Visit Liverpool
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that I spend a lot of my time in Manchester, so I really don’t know why I haven’t been to Liverpool yet considering its only a 45 minute train ride away. I have put it on my 19 things list because I am making it a mission to have a day trip to Liverpool one weekend this year. I really want to go to the new flagship lush store there too!
- Attend more blog events
I have been so busy in 2019 so far that I have turned down 90% of the events I have been invited to, and that makes me so sad. This year I want to make more time to attend, because that is one of the only ‘social’ aspects of what I do and its a fab way to make friends who are in the same industry. Some of my best friends now are ones that were made at blog events, and they are also a fab way to network with brands… plus they are usually just really fun.
- Make more time for ‘internet’ friends.
Leading on from the last point, making more time for ‘internet’ friends is definitely something that needed to be on the list of 19 things. There are so many fab friends that I have made online, and it makes me sad that we only get to see each other at blog events. This year, I want to make more time to work on them friendships and spend time together outside of work things.
- Have the confidence to do a long journey on my own
I recently passed my driving test, but I would not call myself a confident driver in the slightest. I will drive on my own, but get worried about new routes and overall would not class myself as very experienced. This is why I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and drive a long journey on my own. I’m not sure when, I’m not sure where, but I do think it would help build my confidence and make me realise that I can actually drive. Theres a reason I passed my driving test after all!
- Achieve a high 2:1 or 1st in my second year
More of an academic one now, because so far on the list of 19 things there hasn’t been a university related one. This year I got a high 2:1 overall which I am really happy with, so next year I want to do the same or better. Ultimately, I would love to graduate with a first but with everything else that is going on right now I’m not sure thats the most feasible idea… but I would love to do well.
- Not do BLOGMAS
A bit of a weird thing to put on 19 things I want to achieve this year, but I need something to stop me and I think that this is the way! I love piling pressure on myself, but this year I really need to take a step back and I think my blog is the thing that needs to slip a bit. The past 2 years I have done blogmas and loved it, but this January I have 4 exams so I would be very stupid to do it again. I will probably do a few more Christmas posts (because its my favourite time of year) but don’t expect 31… because its a ridiculous workload.
- Do more public speaking
A couple of months ago I went back to my old secondary school and did a series of talks about who I am, how my blog/business started, and focused it on time management and how I do everything really. I was so nervous but I actually really enjoyed it, and it made me want to do more public speaking. In the least arrogant way possible, I think I have a lot I can talk about and a lot of advice to share, so hopefully over the next year I can build my confidence whilst also helping people ‘in person’ rather than through a screen like I do now.
- Host another blog event
In January I hosted my launch party for Indigo Rosee Beauty, and it was genuinely one of the best nights ever. I felt so proud, everyone got along so well and we all got to have drinks and catch up, whilst celebrating Indigo Rosee. I loved it! In the next year I definitely want to host another event for the business, but I’m just not sure what right now. Maybe for the next launch? I don’t know, but its on the list of 19 things as something to consider hosting and organising this year.
- Visit Brighton
This was on my to do list on the post 2 years ago, and I still haven’t been. I think its just because it is so far from me, so would definitely have to be a planned weekend away rather than something spontaneous. I don’t even know why I want to go really because I live in a seaside town now, but it looks so pretty and I think it would be a fab weekend away when it is sunny.
- Book a European city break
I have barely been to mainland Europe, which is crazy to think about considering there are so many wonderful places to explore… and the flights are relatively cheap from the UK. I was meant to go to Amsterdam last year, but that fell through because my health got in the way, which I was gutted about. Due to uni, I don’t think its realistic to go on a trip this year but I would like to have one booked for next summer perhaps. Where should I visit?
- Set up a Facebook group
This seems like an odd one to have on the list of 19 things, but this year I would like to set up a Facebook group. Granted, Facebook is a bit of a dying platform but I am in a lot of groups that I love and I would like to create my own. Somewhere where people can post their achievements, productivity, makeup, advice… anything they want really. I think it would be a fab community and I have so many ideas for it. Watch this space!
- Hit 1000 sales
This is a big one and will take a lot of work, but this year I want to hit 1000 sales on Indigo Rosee Beauty. Realistically I’m not sure it will happen, but a girl can hope (and work towards it at least) so it needs to be part of the 19 things that I can aim to achieve. Imagine 1000 people ordering my lashes though? That number is crazy, and I hope it does happen. I think I will cry when I hit it (happy tears of course).
- Book a studio photoshoot
Last year I have had ‘street style’ photoshoots, but I really want to get the confidence to have a studio photo shoot. I think I’m scared of it because its more intense that street style, and its a lot more about you rather than the location. I think the photos would look super cool though and I would really like to have a go and build my confidence with a different style of modelling.
- Feel more confident without makeup on
This is probably the most personal one on this list of 19 things, but its something that I really want to work on in the next year. This year my skin had cleared up massively (thank GOD) so I have been feeling a lot more comfortable in my skin, but equally I am nowhere near as confident as I want to be. Overall I would say that I am skin comfortable but not skin confident, which is where I want to be in the next year. I think not wearing makeup much on holiday will definitely help me too.
- Experience more local areas.
Now that I have passed my driving test, I really want to explore local places in my car. There are so many fab places around my hometown that I would like to visit, and this summer I want to make more of an effort to go and explore them places. Especially with my car, it now means it is easier than ever to visit new places and really make use of amazing attractions near us.
Wow… that was a long post. But there we have it- 19 things that I want to achieve in the next year and before my 20th birthday. I’m not sure I will be able to achieve them all, but its a good place to start and hopefully I will be able to tick off and document as many as possible both here and on my Instagram. What do you want to achieve this year? Is there anything on your list?
