Wow June has been a crazy month, but it has without a doubt been the best month of the year so far. The weather has been predominantly nice, I’ve been away a lot, I launched my new lashes and (arguably most importantly) June is my birthday month. My birthday is my favourite time of year and I love a celebration, and this years celebrations certainly did not disappoint. So much fun!
We started June with a blog event to attend the press night of Little Miss Sunshine in York. I love going to the theatre (and don’t go as much as I should), so I was super excited when we got the invite. It wasn’t something that I would have normally chosen to go see, but we enjoyed it regardless and had a laugh. However, if you want to see my full thoughts of the play, please click here to be redirected to the full review. Plus it was so nice to see some of the fab York bloggers, that I don’t see nearly enough.
Now that I have finished university for summer, I have had plenty of time to go away in June, which has been so nice. If you have been following my blog for a while you will know that I visit Manchester a lot, but most of the times I visit I spend studying/working and don’t actually get to explore the city much. However, now that I have finished uni I made an effort to go for a few days, see my friends that live there and actually enjoy myself. I definitely did that! We ate so much good food, I had a lovely date day with my boyfriend, and me and the girls also had a day in the northern quarter. I love my Manchester family and have made so many good friends this year, and I’m so excited for next year when I will be able to see even more of them.
Straight from Manchester, I flew out to Dublin with my grandparents for a few days of well deserved relaxation. We go to Manchester a lot, so we didn’t put pressure on ourselves to cram everything into this trip, rather opting for a slower pace and some proper chilled out time as a family. We did some shopping, ate A LOT of good food, went to the Guinness factory but apart from that did practically nothing of interest… and it was BLISSFUL. I swear Dubin resets me in a way that no other place can, and as always I came away feeling refreshed and creative. Love that place!
Right before we flew home, I had something important I needed to do in my favourite place, and that was launch my new collection of lashes on 13th June. You guys didn’t disappoint and absolutely smashed sales, making it the most popular day of sales for lashes so far. It was crazy, and you guys all went crazy for the new launch. I am so lucky for all of the support I have received with indigo roses beauty, not only in June but just 100% of the time. You guys never fail to amaze me.
I spent the few days after launch weekend just relaxing, as I felt so mentally exhausted from all of the work leading up until the launch that I just needed to take a break. A girl can’t work 24 hours of the day- and I think she felt that she could in June! I spent the weekend relaxing, going to the beach, having a stroll around Sewerby hall and spending time with family and friends. It was so much fun and I genuinely really needed it I think.
Then we were back to action, because I can’t sit still for too long! If you have been following me for a while, you will know that I host my annual marquee party in June for all of my home friends, and this year certainly didn’t disappoint. Its always one of the best nights of the year, and this year involved a lot of drinks, a lot of laughter and a lot of sunshine… which is always a good combination. I love my friends so much and always miss my home squad when I am at uni, so I am so grateful we are still close and can do things like this. Although a whole post on my birthday celebrations are coming next week!
The marquee party was the start of my birthday celebrations, but it certainly did not stop there. My boyfriend had been planning a ‘surprise day out’ as my birthday present for a while, but I had no idea where we were going until the day before. Turns out the day out was actually a night away in one of our favourite cities, Newcastle, for a couple of days of treating me (which I totally did not deserve!). We ate fab food, drank lots of cocktails, cuddled puppies at the dog and scone and overall had a fantastic time. Although, like I mentioned before, a full Newcastle blog post will be coming within the next couple of weeks… I just couldn’t fit it in my June schedule!
I can’t believe how busy my birthday week turned out to be! We started my actual birthday by opening my cards and presents (including the handbag of my dreams, which is honestly my first born child and will be my prized possession until the day I die) and an overall had a chilled morning. We then all went to see Toy Story 4 as a family as, although it was my 19th birthday, I still act around 9 and absolutely love Disney films. Toy story is one of my favourites and I loved the new film- would definitely recommend it. We then ended my birthday with a trip to my new favourite restaurant with my family. I had actually never been before but it was amazing and I know I will be going back a lot more times. Overall my birthday was an amazing day, and involved all of my favourite people. I love it!
I ended my birthday week with a night out to Leeds with both my home and uni friends. I am actually scheduling this the night before because I want to enjoy myself and not worry about work when I am there- but I hope its going to be a good night! It will be the first time my home friends have met my uni friends so I hope it will be a good night.
So that was June! June is always one of my favourite months of the year and this certainly didn’t disappoint, I just love how happy this post is. July is also setting up to be a good month, with an exciting brand deal coming, my holiday and more time spent at home with my family and friends. I just love summer so much.
