This isn’t going live for a while, but I’m currently writing this post the day after the party, running on 3 hours sleep and having already taken down the marquee, which is so sad. That being said, I couldn’t wait to write it because the annual marquee party is one of my favourite days of the year and the 2019 one did not disappoint in the slightest. I wanted to write it ASAP, because I don’t want to forget anything that happened. Did you read last years marquee party post? Click here to be redirected.
This is going to be a very photo heavy post and mainly for my benefit to look back on- just a warning!
We have hosted the marquee party every summer now around my birthday for the past 3 years, and with a few extra ones added along the way… it makes it the 5th marquee party that we have hosted. I love that, even though I don’t see them very often because of uni, my home friends are still my closest friendship group and when everyone comes back it feels like nothing has changed. Its still as crazy as its always been!
As always, the theme for this marquee party was a tropical bright theme. I love that the marquee party usually marks the start of summer, so bright colours and the tropical theme is a great way to get everyone in the summer mood. plus, I think the bright colours must attract the sunshine as, although I know this is probably jinxing it, we have actually never had a marquee party that is not glorious sunshine. Its crazy, and so lucky! I think this marquee is the best that is has ever looked, and I especially love the diary lights which we hung all over the ceiling in the marquee. It looked so pretty when it started to get dark.
I know a lot of people follow my blog purely for the fashion content, but I won’t discuss my outfit here because I am actually going to do a whole outfit diary about what I wore throughout my birthday celebrations. What I will say is that I loved this outfit for the marquee party, although towards the end of the night it got so cold that the hoodie came out!
The night was spent playing drinking games, catching up with both old and some new friends, and having a good laugh. It was arguably one of the best marquee parties because everyone was in a good mood, and it was so good to all be reunited. I loved it and it makes me so excited for the rest of summer with this crazy bunch! The marquee truly is the place to be, and I love how happy and care-free everyone seems to be when we are all together at the marquee party.
The fun didn’t end there though. After everyone left, there ended up being 5 of us remaining that stayed up until about 5am chatting and introducing one of our guy friends to the world of waxing strips… at his expense of course. That is the reason I am currently writing this post on 5 hours sleep! It was so funny though and I do see what people say about pre’s and afters actually being better than the party, as it just continues the fun but with a smaller (and often closer knit) group.
So there was have it, the annual marquee party 2019. I feel like summer hasn’t begun until the marquee party happens, so even though I’ve already been away from university a month, I feel like summer as only just begun. I can’t wait for all of the memories that are yet to come this summer, and I do genuinely think that it is going to be one of the best ones yet. Heres to the next few months of being unapologetically us, and having my crazy friends within driving distance of me rather than dotted all over the country. I love it!
