July has been a chilled month, and the relaxing month of summer that I needed. Ive been so busy during my exams, and then June wasn’t relaxing either, so July is the first time that I have fully switched off in 2019 I think. We have had a couple of trips away (including my holiday to Tenerife), spent time with friends and family, and caught up on work and working on the Christmas 2019 launch for Indigo Rosee Beauty. Exciting things are coming!
I started off July with a trip to York to work alongside the lovely team at Nars York on a partnership. You guys know how much I love a blog opportunity with brands, so being able to work with a brand like Nars that I have loved for years is both a pleasure and an honour. How do big brands like Nars want to work with little old me? I won’t go on too much about it as you can read the whole post here, but I had a fab morning getting my makeup done, and I would definitely recommend the service.
Another fab thing to happen in July was getting back my first year university results. The first year of uni was BIG for me, as well as nearly dropping out more times than I care to count in first semester, being in a low place mentally for a large proportion of the year, as well as opening my business, I worked so hard and managed to come out of this year with a mid to high 2:1 (66%), and a first in two of my modules! I know that first year doesn’t count but I was so impressed with this, and I am so proud of myself for not just the grades, but also with actually sticking with university and proving that I can push myself and do it. Heres to another year of pushing myself and hopefully improving my score next year!
The biggest thing in July was my holiday, which has been booked since around February. If you have been following my blog of a while, you will know that around this time last year me and my best friend went to Tenerife, and this year I decided to go back to the same area but with my boyfriend. It was our first ‘proper’ holiday together (we have been on plenty of weekends away) and it was amazing. I shut the shop, and really relaxed for the whole week. I loved it! Not a bad way to spend our anniversary was it? I won’t go on too much about it though. Because you will be seeing a lot of Tenerife blog posts over the next few weeks that I have pre-scheduled.
You have to have been living under a rock if you weren’t aware that towards the end of July we had one of the biggest heat waves I think I have ever known. It hit 30 in my little seaside town, which is completely unheard of. I spent that time working in the sunshine, sunbathing in my garden and basically trying to spend as much time in the sun as possible. It was blissful.
I haven’t been to a blogger event in so long, so I was so glad when I could go see my york blogging gals at the end of July for the opening of “Moxy York’. The weather was BOILING and I spent the afternoon having a long and well overdue catch up with Pippa and Natalie before heading to the event. We met Louise there, and spent the evening celebrating the launch of Moxy York. It was honestly one of the best events I have ever been to, and something I will remember for a long time. The best event with the best girls, and I am so lucky that I have been able to get opportunities like this through my blog. Spending the evening with some of my best friends, drinking gin and having pillow fights with a male model? Pretty good Thursday evening in my opinion!
The heatwave slowly started to cool down, and the rain begun for the last weekend of July. Although we did get one or two sunny days, and one of them I spent the morning at the farm. I have been wanting to go to Honeysuckle farm at Hornsea for a few weeks though, and I’m so glad that we ended up going in July. We spent a few hours there, feeding goats and donkeys, and having a walk around in the sunshine. I loved it, and I already want to go back!
I have loved July, and I am loving being away from uni for summer and being able to focus on personal projects. I’m even happier that we still have nearly 2 months until I’m back again. So much more summer content to come! Next month is no exception, as I have SITC coming up as well as a wedding fair for my business. So excited!
