I am writing this the day I got home from my little getaway to the Yorkshire wolds, as I am so excited to share my last few days. I have barely posted anything on my Instagram because I was too busy relaxing, but I have been snapping little photos as I went along that I can’t wait to share.
I booked this little getaway to the Yorkshire wolds for me and my boyfriend, to celebrate his birthday. We were only there 2 nights, but it was the perfect amount of time to fully relax. I think it is my favourite mini-break I have been on this year so far! I wanted somewhere in the countryside, as we will soon be going back to spending the majority of our time in cities, so this was perfect. A little holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere, where we could fully relax for 48 hours , with no pressure to do anything but spend time celebrating.
We actually don’t live too far away from the Yorkshire wolds, but I wanted somewhere in a drivable distance for me (I have recently passed my test and I am still quite a nervous driver). Plus why would we travel far and wide, when one of the most beautiful rural areas is only an hour drive? It was perfect.
We checked into our holiday cottage around 2pm on Monday, and then spent the rest of the day relaxing. We stayed at the ‘Wolds away’ lodges for our little getaway to the Yorkshire wolds, and it did not disappoint. I am going to be recommending these cottages to everyone from now on! We stayed in the one bedroom lodge, but it was so spacious, and with all of the extra touches (including prosecco and homemade cupcakes) it really did feel like a home away from home. We were so spoilt, and I know for a fact that we will be returning next year at some point… even if it is just for the comfiest bed in the world!
There was even a dog on the host family’s farm next door, that enjoyed popping round and saying hello. As a dog lover, this made my heart very happy!
We spent the first evening making food, and just relaxing in the holiday cottage. My favourite thing about our little getaway to the Yorkshire wolds was without a doubt the Jacuzzi overlooking all of the fields. We spent so much time in there relaxing, and I absolutely loved it. I find them so relaxing, and it was such a treat to have one all to ourselves.
We only had one full day, so we decided to drive to Beverley. I am so proud that I actually drove there, because, even though it was only 30 minutes from the holiday cottage, I was driving on all new roads but I did it! When we got there, we had a walk around in the sunshine and explored. Beverley isn’t too far from where we live but it was nice to be able to chill out and have a look round anyway. Although I didn’t take any photos because I was too busy relaxing and spending time together.
Our lunch was at a restaurant called ‘Central 42’ in Beverley. I had never tried tapas before so wasn’t sure what to expect but I absolutely loved it. It was a recommendation from the lovely Molly who is from the area, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We had 6 dishes between us (which was plenty) and everything tasted so good. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a nice place to visit for a late lunch. I will be dreaming about the Pork Belly and the meatballs for a long time yet!
Once again, we ended the day by watching the sunset in the jacuzzi. The wonderful holiday cottage had fairy lights all away around the decking, which meant we could go in the jacuzzi during the evening, and it was only lit up by fairy lights. Absolute bliss.
I feel like I don’t have much to say in this post because we spent 99% of the time relaxing rather than going out and creating content, but I wanted to document it for the memories anyway because I had such a fab few days. Our little getaway to the Yorkshire wolds was perfect, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a romantic few days away in the middle of nowhere. I know we will definitely be coming back and having another little getaway in the Yorkshire wolds next year at some point. Thank you so much for reading this, and I actually think this is the last travel post of summer 2019… let me know if you have read them all!
