I have written these posts for the past 2 years (2017 and 2018), so this year is no exception. As much as I don’t really talk about makeup on my blog anymore, beauty still holds a special place in my heart, and this is a post I will always do. I love sharing my recommendations, so in this best of beauty 2019, I will share my most used products of the year and why I love them so much.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE doing my makeup and I find it super relaxing, but I don’t buy half as much makeup as I used to do. Gone are the days where I used to save all my money to splurge on Mac, and now I would rather use the products I have. I think I have streamlined my collection to a point where, unless something runs out, I have all of my favourite products that I know look good on me, and I don’t really try much else. This shows how good these 5 products I’m mentioning in my best of beauty 2019 are genuinely amazing, because they have made it into my day to day collection.
Violet Voss ‘Holy grail’ palette- £43*
I set myself a rule of not buying any eyeshadow palettes after summer (as I spend way to much money on makeup), but after seeing this half price at TKMaxx in June, I just couldn’t resist. I have never found a palette that works with perfectly for travelling until now. In the past I’ve always had to take two palettes away with me as there isn’t the perfect colour selection, but this is genuinely a perfect palette for me. Very neutral shades with some pops of red, and makes the perfect warm toned smokey eye (which if you know me, you will know is my fave). With the exception of a lack of matte black, this palette has everything I need and the quality is amazing too, so has quickly become one of my favourite palettes in my collection. It definitely had to feature in my best of beauty 2019, and I would definitely recommend picking it up if you are in need of a staple everyday palette with plenty of neutral shades.
Kiko Flawless Fusion bronzer- £10.99
I love wearing bronzer, and even if I am having a minimal makeup day I will still always put on bronzer to add some colour into my face. Over the years I have tried many bronzers, but I genuinely think that this is my favourite… and its a drugstore price tag too! The thing I like the most is that the shade is not too warm toned but not too cool toned, so you don’t look orange but you don’t have a grey cast either. I would say it is cool toned but it doesn’t have crazy grey undertones, so it contours and defines your face without looking too heavy. There are around 6 colours I think, but I found the colour match perfect for me, and it is a really nice shade. I also like that they have more than one shade because it means everyone can try it if they want to. As far as the formula goes, I love how smooth it feels and it has never gone patchy like a lot of my bronzers do. For such a cheap product, it is definitely a win!
Maybelline Superstay Foundation- £9.99
This is kind of a cheat one, as I didn’t really discover this foundation this year, but it is still featuring in my best of beauty 2019 because I have genuinely got through about 5 bottles of this in 2019. I have never had a foundation work so well on my skin and look so flawless than this one, and if ever they discontinue it I am genuinely going to buy 100 bottles to keep me going. For such a cheap product (£10), it has such a high coverage without looking cakey, and there are plenty of shades so hopefully you will find one that works for you. I think my favourite thing about this foundation though is just how well it wears. I often have really long days where I am at uni for the whole day and doing lots to travelling, but I know that I never have to worry about this foundation looking patchy. It wears beautifully throughout the day, and by the end of the day it barely looks like you have touched it. This is the only foundation I have that can withstand a long night out! I have never worn it for 24 hours as my face would hate me for it, but I think it lives up to the claim that it can.
Maybelline ‘Driver’ liquid lipstick- £9.99
Another drugstore product, you can tell I have really been finding my drugstore favourites this year. Im surprised that this is the only nude lipstick in my best of beauty 2019 as I have developed quite an obsession with them, but I narrowed it down to my most worn and most loved. Driver is a shade I used to be so scared of as it is a straight brown nude, but as soon as I wore it for the first time I loved it. Super pale, super brown but I love how it looks and I haven’t really found another shade like it. Usually I pair this with the Rimmel cappuccino lip liner, and then sometimes top it with the Jamie Genevieve Mac lipstick (as that is a similar shade but lighter), and it honestly creates my perfect brown toned nude. If you are also apprehensive about a brown nude over a pink one, picking up a drugstore one like Driver is a really good way to try it without breaking the bank… plus I’m sure you will love it.
Benefit Brows- From £11
I couldn’t just pick one brow product I liked in my best of beauty 2019, so this one is the whole of the benefit brow collection. Benefit are fabulous and have really nailed their brow products, and there is not one that I have tried which I don’t like. I won’t go on about this one too much as I actually wrote a whole blog post reviewing the range here, but I am still loving them as much as I did then… so they have to feature in the best of beauty 2019. Perfect colour matching, long wearing and plenty of variety of products (pencils, powders, pomades etc). Well done Benefit- I don’t think ill buying brow products anywhere else anymore.
That is my best of beauty 2019, and I think there are some fabulous products in there which will be staples in my collection for a long time… and the majority of them are drugstore too! I am thinking of doing a whole blog post next month where I talk through all of my staple products in my everyday makeup bag, would this be something you are interested in? Let me know! I do enjoy talking about beauty but I never have any inspiration for blog post ideas, so feel free to let me know any ideas you have.
