The lovely Charlotte from Charlotte Emily Price is a beauty, fashion and lifestyle youtuber, and a third year student too. I first started following Charlotte when she joined my management team, and then after briefly meeting at SITC I became obsessed with her content. I am so excited to hear what her answers are to these questions, and of course we had to include some Christmas questions with it being the December edition!
What made you start your social media? Was it planned or a spontaneous decision one day?
I have always been an over-sharer as well as had a passion for writing. I looooved English Literature at school and I wanted to write my own stories orshare my experiences. For me, it was a spontaneous decision to create a blog and begin writing about what I loved – this all began in 2014 and then I decided I wanted to make an Instagram to coincide with my posts and then later, in 2016, began a Youtube channel as another form of sharing my daily life and experiences.
I have seen that you have been working with some supercool brands recently, what is the process you take when deciding to go ahead with a brand deal?
The management I’m on have been absolutely on it with getting me some amazing brand deals that fit my social platforms and personality perfectly! I only decide to go ahead with brand deals if I feel the product/service etc will be beneficial, help my audience or something I genuinely am in love with. I never want to create a barrier between my audience and I because I appreciate their endless support; I never want them to think I’m doing this for the money at all because I started way before this became a career option.
What piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start a social media account and youtube channel like Charlotte Emily Price?
GO FOR IT. I cannot explain how much creating this online platform has changed my life – personality wise more than anything. Doing what I love doing has made me flourish as a person and if you have a passion for social media then go for it! You only have one life so why not start doing what you love and stop thinking about what everyone else thinks of you?!
I know you are in your final year of uni, and I am in my second year so I am always looking for advice! What is your best tips for keeping up to date with studying whilst managing a social media platform?
Getting a planner is the best thing I do to stay organised. I literally have a planner for absolutely everything – finances, blogging, youtube, university you name it haha! Prioritise what you need to do first and then schedule in down-time to keep yourself sane. It’s a crazy, busy time running two youtube channels, social accounts AND being a third year student but it’s worth it!
Have you enjoyed university?
I have bloody loved uni! I think the reason I’ve enjoyed it so much is because I’m living with my two best friends, experiencing the crazy adjustment to adult life with them and always gained so much independence. I’ve honestly grown massively since sixth form and uni is the reason for it! I also love my course too which helps! I study Forensic Science and the modules I have this year especially are soooo interesting (i.e. Fire, Nuclear and Explosives).
As this is the December edition of a chat with, we have to have some Christmas questions! What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
Spending time with all my favourite people – my FAMILY. They mean the absolute world to me and nothing says Christmas more than seeing everyone I love round my grandparents dining table!
What does your typical Christmas Day look like?
My family all congregate at my grandparents house – we all exchange gifts, eat good food, watch Christmas TV and have a chilled day. Lots of us love a good family game so we’re sometimes up for hours playing so many silly things haha!
What was your favourite day of 2019? I always ask this because I’m so nosey!
Ooooooh, I think my favourite day had to be my 21st. I spent it in Bali with my boyfriend – we visited a monkey sanctuary, ate the most incredible Asian foods and finished with a relaxing spa day. So blissful and very much needed before the craziness of third year!
What can we expect to see from Charlotte Emily Price going into 2020?
I hope a lot more developed content and potentially creating more relationships with other content creators and brands. I’d love to start building a community on my Instagram and pushing the body confidence movement more too.
My blog started off as a beauty blog, so I always like to have the last question as something beauty related. What is your holy grail product?
ANASTASIA DIPBROW POMADE. My brows would be a state without it haha!
So that is the post! I hope you love Charlotte from ‘Charlotte Emily Price’ as much as I do and if you want to go check out her work then click here to be redirected to her youtube and Instagram.
