December is always such a good month because of Christmas, and December 2019 is no exception. The last month of the decade has certainly been a good one! I can’t say I have done anything particularly special, but just relaxed and slowed down towards the end of the year, and really got into the Christmas spirit. I feel like this post is going to be quite boring because nothing amazing happened and most of it has featured on Instagram already, but I have loved this month nonetheless.
We started the month of by taking the day off and having a family day in York. I talked about this in this post(as it was actually one of my top 10 days of 2019) so I won’t go on too much, but I had such a nice day. It was nice to just have a festive day with my family and really get into the Christmas spirit. I loved going to Thor’s and finishing off my Christmas shopping finally.
On 13th December 2019 I finally broke up from university until next year. This semester has been hard, and although I’m still revising for exams in January, I was so ready for a break and to have a month at home with my family. No trains, no more lectures and no more reading until 2020… blissful! Revision is difficult and I am dreading my exams in January, but hopefully with enough work before the 17th and I will be as prepared as I can be. If you do want to read more about how I found semester 1 of Year 2, then I actually wrote a whole blog post earlier in the month about my experiences so far.
Since breaking up for Christmas, I have been taking the time to relax and spend time with my family and friends. I went for a nice lunch with my boyfriend and his family, spend lots of time with my family, went to Newcastle for the day, and have seen my friends a few times since they all came home from university. Its nice to not have a huge plan and just spend as much time as I can relaxing over this period before exam season starts.
The Saturday before Christmas I went out with all of my school friends for a Christmas night out. We hadn’t all seen each other in ages as we are dotted all over the country, and therefore only see each other in holidays. It was such a fab night out, we had a good laugh and it was good to catch up with everyone in town. Needless to say it was an eventful night out, as every night out seems to be! It really got me into the Christmas spirit though, despite feeling rather sorry for myself the next day.
Christmas Day! It is everyone’s favourite day of the year, and this year was certainly a good one. It was quite a small family Christmas but I loved it that way, with just me and my grandparents until the afternoon, and then my uncle and his girlfriend came round and stayed on the evening. It was so nice for it to be a small Christmas, and to fully relax. I didn’t get out of my pyjamas until midday! Thats exactly how Christmas should be. For the past few years I have been writing blogmas right up to Christmas Day so have never had the time to relax, so I have really enjoyed being able to wind down this year.
Then on Boxing Day I usually see my dad’s side of the family as usual, but I was actually poorly on Boxing Day and couldn’t go. I ended up having 2 days on the sofa feeling sorry for myself instead! This is the first time I have ever been ill over Christmas time and I wasn’t happy to say the least.
The ‘Crimbo limbo’ seemed to fly by this year, as we had the weekend of relaxing, and then it was my best friend Isy’s birthday. We have been best friends now for nearly 8 years and we have celebrated her birthday every single year, and December 2019 was obviously going to be no exception. We had a big meal out at our favourite restaurant with all of our friends, and it was so nice to catch up with everyone without as much alcohol involved! I can’t believe she is 20 now, and a proper adult… it doesn’t feel like 5 minutes ago since we were all in year 8.
I’ve actually pre-scheduled this post in advance so I can enjoy the new year celebrations, but I’m actually spending New year with my boyfriend. We are having a cosy night in rather than going on a big night out, and going out for a nice meal instead. My grandparents are away so its going to be a quiet one, but I’m excited.
So that was December 2019! This is my last post of the year and actually my last post of the decade, so thank you so much for all of your support over the past year. 2019 has been the year that I have really found my feet when it comes to social media, and I can’t wait to expand and further build on that in 2020. I hope everyone had a fantastic new year, and heres to 2020!
