How is it already 2020? This is my first proper post of the year I think, and theres nothing better than to start the year off with my New Years resolutions for 2020. I love writing down some of my goals and last year I managed to achieve most of them I think, so hopefully I will be able to achieve the same amount, if not more this year. I thought to make these more personal than just ‘go to the gym’ or ‘be more organised’, and if I can genuinely work on these they would have a big impact in my life.
I think that narrowing my New Years resolutions for 2020 to 5 main goals is a good number, as it is enough to work on but not enough to overwhelm me. I think that I can achieve these in the next year, hopefully anyway! 2020 is a brand new decade and I would like my 20s to be off to a good start, so hopefully these goals will start working towards that and build on the personal growth that I experienced in 2019.

Learn the value of relaxing and ‘self care’.
This is my biggest goal for 2020! For years I have always put work first, and I very rarely take time for myself. My version of ‘taking time for myself’ is working on my blog and business, and although I absolutely love that, its not the most relaxing. My New Years resolution for 2020 is certainly to take the time for myself and genuinely relax, without the guilt of worrying about work. I think I would like to get to the point in the year where I take one day off a week, and although that will require either cutting back what I do, or making my current work more efficient, but I think I need to have the break just for myself, and spending time with family and friends.
Treat myself more
This almost leads on from the next goal, but this is more on the financial side. I really like budgeting and setting myself up for the future, but I also need to treat myself when I can. I am not saying I am going to spend all of my money and I am still going to be on the safe side, but while I am in a position where I can treat myself, I think I should. There are a few items on the more expensive side that I would like to buy myself this year, and being able to by them will only motivate me to work harder so I can have the best of both worlds.
Become more confident with my driving.
This is more of a personal goal, but definitely one of my New Years resolutions for 2020. I passed my driving test back in May, but I am still quite a nervous driver. I have certainly come on leaps and bounds since passing and I don’t stress as much now, but I still stay very much in my comfort zone. In 2020, I want to practice doing more long drives, I want to go on a motorway for the first time, and I also want to practice manoeuvres more (because I am horrendous at parking). Just because I have passed my test doesn’t mean I can continue to learn and build my confidence more, and I think everything will make me feel more comfortable behind the wheel.
Work on my Instagram and Facebook page.
I feel like when I don’t have a lot of time, its my social media pages that suffer the most. I rarely have time to shoot content, and when I do it is sporadically and I don’t have an ‘upload schedule’. I would really like to grow my Instagram more this year, and work on my profile over the course of 2020. The same goes for my Facebook page. I set up my Facebook group ‘gals supporting gals’ in July 2019, and it has grown to be one of my proudest achievements of 2019. I would love to expand this further this year and make it into a larger community, as I absolutely love it.
Ask for help more.
Im not very good at asking for help, and its a pretty bad trait. I like doing things independently and succeeding ‘on my own’ so much that I really struggle to ask for help. In 2020, I want to ask for help more when I am struggling in all aspects of my life. Third year of uni alongside running a business is inevitably going to be difficult, so its the perfect time to ask for help. Whether its from my family, or approaching my university lecturers for help on essays etc, I need to make sure I am setting myself up to succeed in all aspects of my life, and you can’t build up yourself on your own. While I have the opportunity to get help… ask for it!
So there are my New Years resolutions for 2020. I think working on these in crucial, and hopefully I will be able to achieve them throughout the year. I am so interested in hearing your goals for the year, so please let me know on our Facebook page or Instagram. I don’t know why I love hearing people’s goals but I do! As always thank you so much for reading this- the first post of THE DECADE. Who knows where Indigo Rosee will head this decade, but I’m hoping its going to be a good one.
