February 2020 has flown by, but I have loved the month. I have been back at university and starting semester 2, which has added a lot of much needed structure back into my routine. Plus, I have had lots of good memories from this month, and every week I have had a night out or another plan to look forward too.
In February 2020 I properly started semester 2, and so far I am really enjoying it. On the whole I have noticed (yet another) increase in the workload, and its making my slightly stressed about the workload levels in year 3, but I do enjoy all 4 of my modules this semester which is really nice. After a slight mess up with some of my module choices, it took a week for me to be enrolled onto the correct courses which was stressful, but now I have caught up I am feeling a lot more calm about the whole situation. I actually think I am preferring semester 2 to semester 1, which surprises me!
I got my exam results back from my January semester 1 exams, and I ended up with a first, which I am so proud of! I worked so hard for them exams, and although it is just into a first, it has really given me motivation to maintain that mark into semester 2. I really want a 2:1 this year, but actually a first is looking more and more likely, and that makes me super happy.
This month I have actually gone on a surprising amounts of nights out, considering I usually only go on one every 3-4 weeks. Ive had two Manchester nights out, and one Hull night out with my best friend from home. They have all been so good as usual, and I have definitely been enjoying going on more nights out in my second year compared to my first, which I think goes against the usual trend. Its true that some of the best uni memories are made on nights out, and they are definitely memories that ill be talking about for a long time.
The 14th February 2020 is of course Valentine’s day, and although me and John didn’t celebrate on the actual 14th, we decided to have a nice date night on the 16th. We went to 20 stories, which is a bar I have wanted to try in Manchester for the longest time, so I am so glad that we finally went and experienced it. I think its my new favourite cocktail bar in Manchester, even though it is quite expensive. We then went for a meal in one of my favourite restaurants (Miller and Carter) and the last time I went to the Manchester branch was after Jeffree Star with Emily over 3 years ago now. It was so nice to go back and its as good as ever, and definitely a fab date night venue.
It was Michelle’s 21st this month, and me and the girls decided to celebrate the way that we know how… pancakes! We decided to go for a Sunday brunch in the Northern Quarter, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Cafe 19 Bar in the northern quarter is pretty close to Piccadilly gardens and do the best pancakes that I have tried so far in Manchester. Michelle has the Biscoff pancakes and they looked so gorgeous, and thats definitely what I am going to have next time. I would definitely recommend that cafe for a chilled brunch, but maybe avoid peak times because we did have to wait for a table… its clearly very popular, and for good reason too.
My blog posts from Dublin are coming soon, however towards the end of February 2020 we headed to Dublin for my grandads birthday. It was so nice to have a mid-semester break to reset and relax, and then go back to uni feeling a lot more refreshed than I did before I went away. Honestly it was one of the best Dublin trips I have been on, and I really didn’t want to come home. I can’t wait to share the blog posts with you in the next week or two, although I’m sure if you follow my Instagram I’m sure you will have already seen the highlights of the trip on my story!
So that was my February 2020, and it was such a good month with so many memories made! I know we are only 2 months in but lets hope 2020 continues to be as good as the first part has been… its looking like a fab year. I’ve also decided to now link my previous posts at the end of each ‘Hello’ post, so you can see what I was doing this time last year AND the year before. I think its such a good way to look back on old memories that I have documented!
