I feel like when it is semester time I barely ever write outfit diary posts, because I certainly don’t dress up for uni and find myself wearing the same few outfits everyday… I’m not very adventurous. However, I recently went to Dublin and have been on a few uni nights out, so I thought to write The outfit diary 8 to share all of my fave picks out of my wardrobe recently.
What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe at the moment?
Im sure you will have all seen my green jumper dress by now (I wear it so often in the winter), so when I saw this grey sweater dress* in New Look, I knew I needed to pick it up. This one has a tie wrap around the front, which I absolutely love to give myself a bit of shape and a figure, as usually jumper dresses are so baggy with no structure. I think this is such a nice day dress and I have barely had it off since I bought it… its so warm and comfy.
This is my go to night out outfit at the moment, as I feel so confident in it, but the long sleeves are also warm for a winter night out, so it had to make an appearance in the outfit diary 8.
This shirt* was from New Look, and I have been wearing it ever since I bought it about 6 weeks ago. I think that it is my favourite thing in my wardrobe right now! I love how it is so versatile and you can wear it for a night out like what I did here by styling with a knot, but also pair it with trousers and heels for a nice meal out too. Its definitely my go to top, and it was quite reasonable too considering the high quality.
For this night out I paired it with my classic leather skirt from Quiz, which you will see features a few times in this post. Its just my go to outfit for a night out, whether thats with tights or bare legs… I love it! The skirt was actually in my most worn fashion pieces from 2019, and I think that still stands going into 2020. If you don’t have a leather skirt in your wardrobe, I would definitely recommend picking one up.
This bodysuit* from Topshop is a recent addition to my wardrobe and not very winter appropriate, but I think that I will feature it in another outfit diary in the summer to show how I would style it in the summer months, as I think it will look so cute when its warmer. I just wanted to wear it because I had just bought in Dublin, so wanted to try it whilst I was there! I wore this for our afternoon tea when we in Dublin, paired with a simple black skirt from Primark and my chunky black cardigan from New Look, which I barely take off in the colder months. I think in summer I’m going to style it with my cargo style trousers and sandals, which I think will look nice too!
What a surprise, the leather skirt has made an appearance again! It goes to show just how much you need a leather skirt in your life, with just how much it features. This time I paired it with an animal print top that I tucked into the skirt, and styled with black tights and boots. This top is something that is very ‘out there’ compared to what I usually wear, as I don’t often wear much pattern, but its one of my favourite tops in my wardrobe and works perfectly if for a smart casual vibe. This whole outfit was from Quiz, and although that wasn’t my intention, it is such a nice outfit and there are some super nice pieces in Quiz right now. Definitely worth taking a look on their website if you are wanting some new fashion pieces, and like my general style!
I have seen people on social media wearing these sheer tops for a while, and I thought they looked so nice but they aren’t really my style. However when I saw this one in Urban outfitters I decided to pick it up, and I love it. It couldn’t be much further out of my comfort zone, but I really liked wearing it and I know its going to become a bit of a night out staple now. Its obviously so sheer as you can see, so I wore it with my Calvin Klein sports bra underneath which I think adds a nice touch. Its so nice when you wear something thats not really your style but you end up loving it, and its made me want to try some different styles now!
I love everything in the outfit diary 8, and I can’t believe we are on the 8th post in this series already. I love documenting how my style has been changing and evolving.
If you like reading my fashion posts and seeing what I am wearing, I would definitely recommend following me over on Instagram… and thats not even shameless promo! I try and post outfit photos on my stories most days, which shares not only the nice outfits but also the working from home days too! I try and be as authentic as I can and show what I am genuinely wearing rather than perfectly curated feed posts all of the time. Come and have a look if you want to see more student fashion on your feed!
